I've been at making games for RPG Maker for almost 20 years! No, they're not ALL Dragon Kingdoms games, just most of 'em.

But whatever. I really haven't been a part of the GW community since Legion left (I went to ghostlight, too) I am old hat.
Ghostlight is still alive. It was part of Township Games for a while, but almost everyone felt that TG was a stupid name for a site. (The Township was the lamest part of Breath of Fire II, after all- why shouldn't it apply here?)

Deadlines motivate me moar! This time I will release a demo, if I don't, just fricken ban me or something.
I believe that is known as a "Toxx Clause". And I plan to have a release for RSIII. It's six days earlier than I had planned it, but, oh well.

Oh, come on, the 20th? I'm hoping to get my demo done in a week or two :(
Well, there's a way around that. I'm having a Release event myself on the 24th of this month at IGP. Future events will be halfway between RSes, though.
This should be good to keep the
The Next Maker?
^ I think there's a script for resolution now. Though, it'd be great to have that option right out of the box.
The only place to ever get a true 3D display is through Virtual Boy. Unfortunately, it is a sea of red and black. Maybe they should've used blue or green instead.
Yes, it's the old bright colors on black again. The contrast kills your eyes.
FF10 through 12 still use the same techniques used to trick you into thinking its 3D. It's an illusion.
And yes, the next maker could use multiplayer. I know a project being made on RPG Maker 2003 called Arena that won't be possible to make. I would also like the option to have holographic projection, since it will be the future. Sega did this in 1993, why not nearly 20 years later? True, it may stretch out the file size a bit, but we'll all be on The Grid, on 900 TB hard drives, anyway.
EDIT: Sega did it in 1991, which is even worse!

The Next Maker?
^Ciel, I believe there are scripts already out for keyboard and mouse support.
Yes, RMXP is laggy beyond belief. But RMVX is not. I could barely get any screen recorder to WORK with RMXP. I used CamStudio for RMVX, and it worked quite well. No sound, but at least there is motion.
And no freezing in battle for 20 seconds, either. I'm moving off of illegal makers, gradually, with RMVX "quick and dirty" versions of my earlier works. Yes, the production values are lower, but the games should still be fun.
As for the limited tileset problem, it is still possible to make a map using the tileset, screen capture it with no characters/events on screen, and make a panorama out of it. That defeats the tileset limitation. There's already a passability script, as well.
Thus, there is literally no reason at this point to use RM2k/3. A better maker has come along (I would say RMXP was the worst one yet).
What should RPG Maker 2012,the last maker ever, have in it?
-Better character graphics. There are only two downsides to RMVX, and this is a big one.
-More rounded tiles. The other downside to RMVX. Fortunately, someone already made some of these for VX.
-Stat limit breaking out of the box. Why are we still limited to 99 levels in this day and age?
-Isometric graphic support. We're not going to get 3D, but we can certainly go 2.5D. Even FF7 through FF12 aren't true 3D, after all.
-Support for character models. This would be a big move into the future, if character models can be made and used.
That's really about it. Three out of the five above can be worked around in RMVX, however. The last two would go greatly toward taking RMVX seriously in the broader homebrew community.

Card Sagas Wars!
author=Enker link=topic=938.msg12830#msg12830 date=1208854461
I've been following this one for quite a while through his site - the promise of regular updates containing new characters (some of which can be seen in the two trailers he's released) sounds great, he's gone on record saying that he's got plans for hundreds of playable characters to be in the final rosta, and that once he's unloaded all the wish-lists of those involved he might take on requests (might!) so the future of this little gem is sounding rosy indeed.
Myself, I'd want to see 'Asuna' from Negima, 'Roxas' from Kingdom Hearts 2 and 'Lloyd' from Tales of Symphonia making the cut.
Roxas is in. He's Card #423.
Lloyd is in, too. He's Card #294.
And Asuna is in. She's Card #443.
Surprisingly, all the Dragon Quest VIII characters are in, as is Will from Illusion of Gaia, Robotrek from the game of the same name, and the Secret of Mana characters. All the Final Fantasy heroes (heroine in the cases of VI and XIII) are in, too.
[Req] More Killer Apps
Thirded.
And I would do one, but Dragon Kingdoms is not a AAA+ title, and every other thing (Celestial Descent, anyone?) I tried hasn't taken off.
Or were both limited by RPG Maker 2000? Hmmm...

Chapters of the Chosen, and Japan gets DQ5 this summer (UPDATE: SO DO WE ON SEPT. 16th)
Square-Enix has registered "Chapters of the Chosen" in the US, and, furthermore, is to be used for a video game.
It could either be:
-The new Square-Enix MMO they've been working on
-The subtitle for the new Valkyrie Profile, or
-The subtitle for Dragon Quest IV.
As chapter-based as Dragon Quest IV is, it'd be hard to imagine this NOT being its subtitle. Dragon Quest (IV): Chapters of the Chosen may be a possible title!
And, Japan gets Dragon Quest V for the DS this summer, more specifically July 17. While that's not in the States (wait a few months) or Europe (er, maybe 2009?), it may still be possible to play, much as Dragon Quest IV was, if it has the same type of translation as it did.

Game Inspirations?
My inspirations come from Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, the first Grandia, a few other games I've seen, and some homebrew games, including Sunset over Imdahl, Hero's Realm, Wilfred series, and Dragoon Legends.
So RMN should be the right place for me, right? :D

Hard Parts of Game Making?
The hardest part of game making for me is keeping the project up-to-date.
Usually, my game will improve as development progresses, and then, when it comes time to release, I'll find the first part of my game is behind on graphics and story compared to a later part.
As for the town thing, it may be better just to combine the parts of the towns you have completed into one, and have it be a hub to other areas, such as dungeons or forests. And to buy items, you'd go to a house and have the shop menu appear. The town could have items added to the sale list as you progress.
