I've been at making games for RPG Maker for almost 20 years! No, they're not ALL Dragon Kingdoms games, just most of 'em.

I know I've seen the left part of the menu before, same exact alignment, same exact font. I think it's from an earlier version of Finding Forever Eden, especially with the Missions, "ENDGAME" and Battles counter. Also, the style of that side of the menu is different from the right, which makes me go, hmm.
Define your Numbers
HP: That thing that keeps you alive. Should this hit zero, you're going to be set back a bit.
MP: Magic Power. If this hits zero, additional spells do MP cost * 10 = HP damage instead. Self healing is blocked until MP reaches the cost of the spell, but you can certainly heal others.
MP = 0, Heal = 3 MP. The user would get 30 HP damage.
MP = 2, Heal = 3 MP. The user would only get 10 HP damage.
LV: The level you are on, controls things like revival costs, inn stays, spell damage, enemy encounters, or even the title screen you get to see. Also functions as basic defense or strength.
Revival costs are similar to Dragon Quest, 10 * level. At level 99 it would cost 990 gold to revive. Stronger monsters might appear in earlier areas of the journey to keep things interesting.
Strength/Defense: A high physical attack leaves you open to spells (0%), and a high magical attack leaves you open to physical skills/attacks. It's basically a balancing act.
A 100% physical attack lowers magical defense to 0%.
A neutral attack sets both strength and defense to 50%.
A 100% magical attack lowers physical defense to 0%.
Skills tend 10% toward physical or magical with each use, inverting after 100% or 0%.
Say you do 60 damage with a sword when physical strength is 50%. That would be 120 damage at 100%, but ZERO damage at 0%. Basically the game is telling you to stop spamming enter.
Similarly, if you normally do 100 damage with a fire spell assuming no resistances/absorptions/weaknesses, you would do 200 when magical strength is at 100%, and again zero damage at 0%. It's time to stop spamming magic!
Also, if an enemy does 30 damage normally, it will do 60 damage if your defense is 0% and 0 damage at 100%. Keep in mind a family of four is going to do about 10-20% of max HP worth of damage at a normal level, so this can become deadly fast.

Legendary Legend Review
I found out why it took 40 seconds for Rixis (I assume) to have her ATB bar fill up. Because her agility is set WAY TOO LOW compared to the other characters. Note that the fastest an ATB bar can charge up is apparently around five seconds.
Fixing the agility/ATB charge problem just makes the battles go faster, not any more interesting. Maybe we could figure out how to fix that?

Ways to improve the community/maintain its awesomeness.
Okay, I write reviews (sometimes), I play games (sometimes), have a games released topic, and am trying to figure out how to make the RM2k3 battle system go faster than a snail's pace. Setting the agility to 999 didn't work.
It looks like setting it around 250 works, so the characters will at least get to attack once per five seconds, rather than 40 seconds. Still seems a bit slow, though. I wonder if there's a patch for that?
V That's different from the usual "use RPG Maker VXP" response, for sure.

Legendary Legend Review
I tried this, got to the umpteenth forest, actually yawned at the endless battles. The skill set at level 8 looks like what we should have had at level 1 (maybe 2 or 3 for the multitarget spells), and the battle speed is just so slow. The world map is basically a ripped Rudra set. There are typos and formatting errors, including faceset errors.
As I've said, it isn't that bad compared to what else is out there, but isn't worthy of being a Featured Game in its current state. So much more can be done!

We aren't having the featured game shoved down our throats.
Actually. Legendary Legend is there every time I click on the front page, and is in The Latest News section, and in the Latest Reviews section. You'd think it was December Fools Day yesterday or something, except it's still there today.
Why work so hard when games that deserve 2 to 2.5 stars are featured? It's stunningly average or even sub-standard when gameplay is included. The first part of gameplay has the word game. Without gameplay, there is no game. Otherwise, I might as well read a webcomic or graphic novel.
It is a good sample of what to expect out of our RPG Maker games, which is rather depressing as calunio pointed out.

How many of you have actually played Legendary Legend?
Doesn't matter, the gameplay is practically the Achilles' heel of this. The magic is in the writing, which makes me wonder why this wasn't made a webcomic or novel instead. Both reviews for it say the gameplay is barely passable.
Even more funny is Solitayre's review title even SAYS "A great webcomic that happens to be in game form". So it should be on Comic Genesis or DrunkDuck instead of RMN, I guess?
What are you thinking about right now?

And why the hell Golden Sun: Dark Dawn's release date was pushed from November into December...
GOD DAMMIT GIMME!
I was wondering what you meant, because I remembered seeing it saying "available November 29th" this morning, but upon closer look, it says December 10th for Europe. And December 2nd for Australia for some reason (?). So it's just November 29th for the Americas.
That said, it's almost a simultaneous worldwide release, at least it being Q4 in all territories (released October 28th in Japan). It's just a shame that EMEAA is treated as a third rate region.
