I've been at making games for RPG Maker for almost 20 years! No, they're not ALL Dragon Kingdoms games, just most of 'em.

A moment of silence for a hero, a friend, JKB.
Wait a minute... we still have people that want to do more with RM than make a poor quality game. Yanfly made three different battle systems and improved the default, and has all kinds of ideas. Heck, I was just watching like 10 videos on YouTube about the different scripts that he made. And what about YDS? Those games of hers are definitely NOT low quality and are quite different. Same goes for Neok's games. And several others on RMN and other sites.
I guess you could say that great games are few and far between, but they do exist. I know I haven't done much to solve the problem in this respect. What should I we do?

Time for a little break.
Right now, in light of the many recent developments here, I feel like it's time to take a little break. I'll still post blogs/updates and be there to chat on IRC, of course. I'm hoping this storm of negativity passes soon.
It shouldn't be more than a month or so, anyway.

Great Purge II
author=jakandsigauthor=VideoWizardShame you can't post them here. No 95 section. Yet, the pirated 2003 is.
RPG Maker Downloads and, later, The NeXus. That was when RPG Maker 95 was just being translated, and before the first version of this site existed. RPG Maker 2 Super Dante was still the most popular RPG Maker at that time, so my first two games were made with it.
Actually, I think that would count as a "custom engine", but RPG Maker 95 won't work on most people's computers, anyway. Besides, those games are probably worse than the first one I made on RM2k. I also only completed one of the games on RM95.

Please don't erase my games from the archive, because:
- It may not seem like it, but at least I try when making these games, especially the latest two.
- I take any and all feedback to improve projects. I'd hate to be shut down just as things improve. My latest completed game was almost good/average, lagging in a few areas as Silviera posted in his review.
- I get busy sometimes, but I am making progress "behind the scenes". Right now, the graphics I'm using are temporary (read: RTP/modified RTP) so posting screens wouldn't give an accurate picture of them.
- I know my mapping and graphics, well, suck. Maybe some pointers instead would be better?
I've made six complete games and two are in progress. My main series is among the longest running in the community (running since 1998), if not the longest. I guess that counts for something, right?

Somebody talk me into/out of this
author=StrangeluvI was waiting for that to show up here. Those were among the first custom graphics I ever did, of course they're going to be crappy!

EDIT: As for the creating custom graphics, it's better to start as soon as you can, so you can summarily scrap the first half dozen you make.
Super Luigi World (2018)
The level Atmospheres2 is impossible to finish, I got up to about the 2700 level, and reached a dead end. Which pissed me off because I had to go up for like 40 MINUTES just to come to a glorified crystal thing ~1.7 MILLION ticks of Y up. Ugh.
Your warp star from World 11 leads to not being able to go anywhere. Seriously!
Also 17 worlds is too many. The Mario games never had more than nine (originally).
Super Mario Bros. 1 had eight.
The original Super Mario Bros. 2 had nine, was upgraded to thirteen on the SNES.
The US-released Super Mario 2 had seven.
Super Mario Bros. 3 had nine, eight if you don't count the Warp Zone.
Super Mario World had nine.
Super Mario World 2 Yoshi's Island had six.
Super Mario 64 had 15 main levels, but only four sections that could be considered worlds.
Super Mario Sunshine had eight sections.
New Super Mario Bros. DS had eight worlds.
Super Mario Galaxy had nine sections (ten if you count the extremely small beginning one)
New Super Mario Bros. Wii had nine worlds.
And Super Mario Galaxy 2 has seven worlds.
Notice that they all had from six to nine sections/worlds, except for Super Mario 64 (only four), the re-released Super Mario Bros. 2 (as Lost Levels) and arguably Super Mario Galaxy 1. You have seventeen that are all over the place most of the time. It's even hard to tell what world a level is in, quite often!
As for the number of stars needed to enter certain areas, if you don't have enough, you can only exit the level by dying.
You don't even have to beat the bosses to beat the x-4 levels. Also, the second download seems to be the same as the first one :(
is what I give this at this time. The game is just so hit or miss right now.

How old were you when you first used RM?
I was 18 when I started using RPG Maker, both the SNES RPG Maker 2 (Super Dante 2, as mentioned above) and the first version of RPG Maker 95- both by TNomad and crew. However, I had been toying with the idea of making an RPG since I was 11 (that's even before RPG Maker 98 was released in Japan in December 1992). You can thank/blame Dragon Warrior I-IV and Final Fantasy IV for that.
I usually just make these games for fun, though sometimes near the end of a project, I do it because it's almost done anyway. Apparently someone else enjoys them, as the latest complete project got very close to average. Maybe there's some potential there?
A few of my attempts are available here on RMN. I've also been in many RM communities over the years. From a site known as RPG Maker Gurus to RPG Maker Downloads to the NeXus to Imbiss to this very site's predecessor, to the late Gaming World (LOL Salt World), to the whole Ghostlight/Loose Cannon/Township Games and back to Ghostlight fiasco, and now here.
