RMN Pixel Quilt
Too bad we had to go repeats to complete this quilt. Maybe if there was a MS reward involved more people would join these. >_>;
Anyway, since seiromem hasn't posted, I'll take B4. I'd like to go last, so check this post again after the other squares are done.
Edit: Sorry, seiromem! =P

Ceiling cat. And from the RMNverse: mahashanaH, Andy, and his sister.

I don't know about you all, but a Female Squall for FF8 would have been cool.
@pianotm: That's cool, then. For the record, I never tried to justify those drawings. If anything, the point I was trying to make earlier on this thread is that those were just the work of horny fan-artists. Actual game developers working on an adaptation of the game would know better than to stray away from Squall's character to design her appearance (or at least one hopes so).
@Corfaisus: Quick question: How is that flame-baiting? I was talking strictly about fictional characters, and he retaliates with tales about failings in the judicial system, reproaches about Mr_D's attitude, religious dogma, and whatnot. If there's a relation between all those topics and anything I said (which is debatable) it is a loose one. Hence my wording: "little to nothing".
Edit: @Slashphoenix: I understand that. And I hope you know I understand that. You and I have discussed this countless times before.

@pianotm: Let me just say that I can. After all, it's not like I'm incapable of empathy or haven't experienced prejudice myself. But at the end of the day I think I can look at things objectively. I sure do wonder sometimes if this is too much to ask from others, though. But I just ponder that if only everyone else could too, there would be no judge in the world who would let a rapist go free... But I'm not really touching that or any of the other subjects you brought up because, they have little to nothing to do with my post. So, yeah.

![]() | Why do you do this? It's weird. |
Anyway. If your walls are four tiles tall near the south entrance, I think they should be four tiles tall everywhere else. This may help with that "elevation weirdness" feeling. Also, you could edit the ground tiles so they look like this. Notice how the levels gradually become darker? This creates a nice effect of depth that could help players 'read' your map better.

This looks pretty good. I'd just add some more flowers and tall grass here and there, because the map looks a bit too 'impeccable' as it is. It's like somebody just mowed the entire area very carefully. =P Besides that, maybe the trees that are on the edge of the river look a bit odd? But I guess that's actually possible... Also, what's a tomb doing there? Creeeepy!

Gentlemen how do you feel about being sexualized like that?
Nothing. Probably because 1) I'm not a prude (Is that the word I'm looking for?). How a character is depicted makes me think no more or less of them, or of their authors for that matter. I find it's way more reasonable to simply evaluate the 'character' of a work as a whole and determine if it is the right thing for me - if it's a work I would enjoy. And if it's not, simply seek for alternatives, or decide if I want to indulge on it anyway despite it's shortcomings (We've all done this). ...For the record, criticism is always valid. But you know, "keep it real, yo!"
And 2) No one is "sexualizing" ME. They're sexualizing a fictional character. Idk, I just don't get how people see themselves "represented" in media... Let's say your name is Alex, and you see a character named Alex doing something that you disapprove of. You don't go: "For shame! We Alexs are not like that!" do you? Then why do people do this when it's their gender, ethnicity, etc. that loosely links them to a character? Because unless you have evidence this was the author's INTENT (and I think is very easy to spot propagandistic stuff) your concerns are misplaced. You're a fully-fledged human being. And that character was never meant to come even close to what you are.
"But HISTORY/SOCIETY!" ...Ok, sure. But I mean, let's help break the cycle. Just looking at things a bit more objectively can do wonders.
Depression Review
I haven't heard from anyone actually getting it, though.
I got it, and I'm sure I mentioned it somewhere. =B I liked the ending. The message displayed in it, despite its simplicity, is probably the singlest, most poignant thing about the entire game. It almost gives meaning to all the dying the player has to endure... Too bad you have to be a psychic to get it in your first try. Or by the time the players decipher the intricate steps they have to take in order to get it, I'm sure the game would have long overstayed its welcome in their eyes. *cough*badgamedesign*cough* =)

See? This is what happens when you go crazy with the filters. This image looks like is the result of compression degradation. xD

Well, the drawings is nice, but there's still some room for improvement. The coloring is a bit hap-hazardous and low on contrast, but it actually creates kind of a cool effect. Just remember to go easy with the Photoshop filters and stuff... Also, the purple lineart goes well with the hair of that one girl, or the red dress of that other girl, or with their skin tones. But it sticks out like a sore thumb against the neutral and dark colors. I suggest you change the line in those areas, even if it is for a darker shade of purple.
Are there restrictions on games that can be hosted here? Specifically games aimed for more mature audiences.
@Sooz: I dunno. If you're going for 'humor', seeing somebody running around on their underwear seems to be enough. Or maybe trying to cover themselves with their hands -if they don't need to fight back or anything- ...that would be quite interesting to animate, actually.

Anyway, if "gratuitousness" is a factor, then Alex gets Oppai seems fairly gratuitous to me (even if innocuous); The game could very well be about catching vegetables and it wouldn't be any less fun. And just you wait until someone takes notice of it and goes all "objectificashun!" and whatnot. I mean, disembodied breasts? Really? ...But hey, at least they're covered. xD
