VIDEOWIZARD'S PROFILE

I've been at making games for RPG Maker for almost 20 years! No, they're not ALL Dragon Kingdoms games, just most of 'em.

Dragon Kingdoms: Birth of a Legend

Actually, it's a panorama that I made. Unlike RMXP, RMVX allows for smooth scrolling for enemies and characters. (I actually found the code in RMXP that affects scrolling and fixed it, but there's still the issue of not seeing the scene while editing).

Release Something! Day IV: Release Thread

Dragon Kingdoms: Birth of a Legend (RMVX)
Finally, it's ready for release. I was starting to think this day wouldn't come.

The legend begins here with a remake of the first game in the Dragon Kingdoms series.

It is up to Akahr and his friends to discover and stop the source of the monsters that have been ravaging the land. But, they may be surprised at what the source is...

Grand Theft Release Something! IV: Guns of the Patriots [Sept 22nd]

I'm getting my Something together now. All I can say at this point is expect less (i.e. there aren't 40 maps for one area anymore).

RMN Around the World

Yeah, I'm an American and even think Alberta is cool.
Location: Florida, USA
City: Pinellas County, just outside Schiavo city, er, Pinellas Park.
Boredom Killing: RPG Maker, comicking, etc.
Weather: Hot all but two months a year, and sometimes even then.
Cool Fact: This is the southernmost Pinellas County in the US and the densest populated county on the west coast of Florida.

Ephiam, If you want, you can use the FF3 NES map set for Dragon Fantasy II, that one is still 8-bit. Come to think of it, the FF3 and FF4 map sets do look pretty similar...

And about the lake, they probably wanted to impress. There's a bridge like that in New Orleans, where it crosses the length of the lake, rather than its narrowest point.

Grand Theft Release Something! IV: Guns of the Patriots [Sept 22nd]

I'm hoping to have something ready this time, unlike, say, last time. It's just that these events come up so fast.

The Earth is flat..

My favorite part is when they say the world CAN be round and flat at the same time. So, we'd be 3D beings on a 2D world? What is this, Final Fantasy? Although that would be a toroid.

Try it with an airship in any Final Fantasy. Fly straight north or south, and you'll end up where you started, rather than the other side of the world. Although, I think Final Fantasy VI and later adjusted your position about 12 paces to the right.

An ice wall? Really? But the Amundsen-Scott base is at 90 degrees south, surely it'd be seen from there... Then they'd probably argue the base is on the top of the ice wall. Sigh.

Nevermind the fact an ice wall that large would gradually cause everything to freeze, and Antarctica hasn't always been in that position.

The world is three-dimensional, round, spherical. You can't walk off it.

The Sword or the Pen: Your Character's Weapon Preference in RPGs

*Checks to see if, say, the Inuit used swords*
*Comes back finding out they used swords made of whale bone.*

Yes, folks, even the Arctic peoples used swords! They're truly a world-wide phenomenon.

With that said, one of my characters uses boomerangs to attack, since he specializes in wind-magic attacks, and doesn't like to get too close to the enemy. He's a little weak when it comes to taking hits.

Five Random Thoughts About Video Games.

Considering my video game development textbook mentions Square Enix and Final Fantasy over a dozen times, yeah. I don't think Square Enix is going to die any time soon. (Remember, Square Enix only made 40% LESS profit overseas in 2007. They still did profit.)

As an aside, they seem to be putting out far more different games than remakes now. Their next big game in Japan is a Snoopy game!

I think after Final Fantasy V and VI are remade, and Dragon Quest IV, V & VI are remade, and Final Fantasy VII and Dragon Quest VII are ported, that may be it for a long time for remakes.
