Punch Bears Review

author=thesacredlobo
Thank you. I could use some good news today.

My computer decided it wanted to basically quit and would constantly freeze when trying to play games. So, I eventually just decided to give in and went out and spent roughly $1,200 on a new computer with a two year warranty.

Sadly, I can't get to work on any of my Let's Plays for the day until after I get access to the files in my old external hard drive. So, I've been waiting patiently for a couple of hours now for the new computer to rewrite all of the permissions on the old files and folders.

Sorry to hear about your computer problems.
Hopefully everything works out for you because you produce some quality stuff man. This really is a well thought out review. I liked it so much I even took the time to look at some of your other reviews as well.

Punch Bears

Someone needs to show this game to Stephen Colbert.

Last Minute Gift

"Oh, no, not the bees! Not the bees! lol Other than those bees it was a great game Unity. Best Christmas game I've ever played.
I see you recently added an easy mode so I'm sure the bees are less frustrating when you have more life.
I think it was a good call not to include a map. It's a maze after all, plus you designed the areas with enough character that after a while you get a good understanding of the place in your head and that's part of the experience.
Speaking of the areas I love the atmosphere of this game really well done.
This is really impressive work made in a short amount of time.
If you ever decide to make another Christmas game for next year I'll definitely play that too.

Both this game and this review are awesome.

ALERT: Player Choice Ahead!

Hadn't really thought of that before, I like the various solutions you came up with.

Another solution I could think of is if it is an item that they are choosing you could have said items physically appear on the map and the player has to walk up to the (item 1)Peanut Butter,(item 2) Jelly, or (item 3)PB and J.
But that only works with items and not types of responses.

What might be cool but a bit complicated would be a version of your proposed idea with the blank choice but with some custom coding in which the player choice window looks roughly like this

................................................(Choice 1)
........................................................|
........................................................|
........................................................|
........................................................|
........................................................|
(Choice2)--------------------(blank choice)--------------------(Choice3)
........................................................|
........................................................|
........................................................|
........................................................|
........................................................|
................................................(Choice4)

Yet another solution with less effort involved would be to make the player have to hold another button when choice boxes come up.
For example.
The player gets a choice of GIVE ME PIE or DON'T GIVE ME PIE
the event could be set to loop the question if the player just presses the confirmation button. The loop will break if the player holds the designated choice button while selecting their choice.

@Davenport: The boss is the only thing I don't like about the Sandship. Compared to the boss of the previous dungeon, Tentalus is just, um, silly.

Well spoken sir or madam. Took the words right out of my mouth.

Anyway, I hope dowsing is not in the next game, kinda (I'm conflicted about it.) I get that it helps some players but I feel like it take away from exploration. Don't get me wrong I know that its optional. In fact I never used it except for the last tadpole in that tadpole collecting challenge but, when I did use it, it left a bad taste in my mouth. I felt like I cheated when I used it.

I know some people need more directions than others, and I guess its good game design. (I've learn that the hard way from people getting lost in my game.)
But, let me put it this way if dowsing is not in the next game I won't miss it. The hardcore Zelda fan in me just hates the idea of dowsing I'm sorry I just hate it, even though I'm sure others love it.

Interesting info, thank you Link_2112.

I've got a follow up question.
So does the Download Now button always automatically redirect to the newest download that you add or, do I have to manually set the Download Now button to redirect to the newest version?

I didn't mind the Imprisoned that much until I fought him in boss rush mode that when he gets annoying.

I agree on the backtracking part that time they force you to revisit the first dungeon felt really lame to me. Backtracking should be meant mostly for side quests.

Wasn't the final dungeon the place where you could move the rooms around? I thought that was a cool idea although I suppose it could have been better had said rooms had more of an impact on the neighboring rooms.

Yeah Fi should have been way more likeable she's the Master sword after all. They should have shown more character growth for her. They only show a bit at the very end.

Wind Waker's Ganondorf was awesome. That speech he made before the final battle, about the winds bringing death to the Gerudo and prosperity to Hyrule was probably one of the best moments in any Zelda game. Then again, that whole final battle was one of the best moments in any Zelda game. In my less-than-humble opinion. So if Ganondorf is the villain, I'd love to see him return to that sort of form. We don't really need another Zant or Ghirahim. We need the man himself.

I agree completely.

Speaking of final battles, my favorite Final Battle in Zelda games is the fight against Demise. Holy crap is that battle fun some times I'll turn on Skyward sword just to fight him again.
I think I might miss the motion controls in this next game. I know some people hate that stuff and say it didn't work well but for me the motion controls worked well and added a new level of immersion.
