Doing art commissions (drawings, pixel art etc)

What would your price ranges be for Monster graphics, and do you have any examples of that? (I'd be looking for stuff done on an Isometric angle, but not necessarily isometric style just that point of view)

orig. aremnette nostalgia

Not the same DragonShadow who made Awakening, right, Narcodis? Otherwise I am surprised you haven't been more forthright in saying Hi to me on IRC.

I recognize a few of these names, even that website, although I can't imagine why. Good times, I guess?

Changing the Window skin in VX

Wow that is pretty extensive. Thanks.

Changing the Window skin in VX

YEM (no idea what that is) has probably changed something, and hardcoded the windowskin of choice instead of just pulling the one that you have picked in RMVX. Assuming that YEM is a script and not some hack of the editor or something.

So I guess the downtime wasn't to fix this? I've been having this problem for about a week, or at least noticing it.

I use Google Chrome 5.0.375.70 beta

... I think we... I think we made it guys.

Super RMN Bros. 2

From what it sounds like, you all at least agree with Brickroad. So at the very least, go back and make your own levels better. If you don't agree, just ignore him and produce what you're making. I haven't played it at all, but from the cited examples that Brickroad used, it sounds like there are some major problems. If a level ever becomes impassable, it should be fixed. I can't think of a time in any Mario game, aside from getting tucked into an inescapable hole in an auto-scroll level, where there was no way to proceed.

Just from the names of the submitted levels, it sounds like most are meant to be fun, gimmicky levels. The important part to remember is that not every level in SMB games were gimmicky. There was usually one, maybe two gimmicks per world. SMB3 being the best example: the Tube level in SMB3 World 7, the Pyramid level in SMB3 World 2, or the almost-flat outrun the crazy Sun level in the same world, to name a few. The took the most enjoyable ones, and used them often (the Airships, the occasional slide, the 'Vehicle' levels in World 8) because they were the most fun.

Just some food for thought.

Have been working on a 72 hr game so far... it looks like this:

I hope it will be fun enough.

I like the sprites, and how they look against the regular sized SD3 graphics.

The few flowers and mushrooms that are above the highlighting grid stick out, however. Are they an object in the fight, or are they meant to be part of the background?

The system looks amazing, though. Job well done.

Americanization

This is a well known trope regarding box art. While it doesn't apply to the example you made above (unless you consider the ice skaters hard core strippers because with that kind of makeup they totally look like they are.) It is very common. Kirby is a well known example, as well as Legend of Zelda titles, and probably one of the most well known is Ico.

(The Portuguese one is a joke I think)

2k3 vs vx or xp

If you are planning to use the Scripting feature, either by making your own or copy pasting in pre-made scripts, use RMVX or RMXP. Download both trials, and see which mapping engine you like better. That is the biggest difference between the two is the mapping engine. Once you have figured that out, go to town.

If you aren't planning to use the Scripting feature, use rm2k3. The default stuff in Rm2k3 is extensible enough to make your game unique without the need for scripting, and the engine is easier to use.
