Just kinda remembered this, unfortunately, the games that take place outside of Japan seem to be picked based on simply the places in which Japanese people want to vacation at.
France, Continental United States, Hawaii are all places that Japanese enjoy visiting. So my hopes for anything in Africa or South America are very unlikely.

I don't know, I think Brazil might be a viable candidate for South America, both as a site the Japanese "want to vacation at" and from the historical/cultural ties they have with that country (and Portugal). They're both often featured in Japanese media, anime, games, etc... I remember playing Terranigma back in the day, and be "disappointed" that Brazil was the only country present in the game and not mine. Later when the Internet became more of a thing and I started looking around, I came to understand why.

Also, Easter Island is well known in pop-culture and it's technically part of Latin America, so that may be a possibility too. =P

Am I expecting too much out of videogames? Maybe but if we want to say games are important art forms than we need them to comment on shit that matters. And what better game to do that than with a super popular RPG set in modern times. Which many players of which are no longer children.

I think you're expecting of this franchise something that is not. There's always hints to cultural/social aspects in Pokemon's designs, but that's not the focus of the series. I don't know who you have been listening to (I have an idea, though =/) But many of us already believe videogames are an important art form. That does not mean every game needs to further a cause, however...

Really? Where did you get all that from? I think you may be reading way too much into it. For example, how can the iron zombies be a metaphor for American soldiers when they're not a foreign occupying force, but rather a thing that is spreading among the local population... Granted, the scenario, character design, and animation are cool. But I'm still not sold on the anime yet. The story is not even about zombies, it's so blatantly about vampires (With the Kabaneri being your typical good vampires than retain their will and allegiance to mankind) that I don't even have high expectations about it. But we'll see where it goes from here.

So, about the thread title. Is it going to stay like that forever? Shouldn't we at least change it every so often to spice things up? It gets old... And what about the other threads from the same set? Should we change their names too so they match again? "What are you thinking about, WILLIS? (Game development edition)" "What videogames are you playing right now, WILLIS?" xD

lol, this is so alien to me. Who does that? Who is so gullible and so easily influenciable that being told a coat is for one profession or another changes the way they approach things? Do people think fabric grant them special powers or something? ...Also I've never experienced the whole playing a game differently depending on how your character dresses/looks. It's a purely an aesthetic choice to me. But I can sort of understand that a bit more. After all, some people really get invested in their games.

On the bikini-armor thing. It's videogames. Things don't have to make sense. You're onto something though, if people didn't mistake things they don't like for overt "isms" we'd have less problems. If something takes you out of a game it's ok to talk about it. But it's always the time and place for that thing for somebody else... Live and let live. Or rather, play and let play.
