author=sbester
lol I remember the first time I ever thought to put panoramas as the map back in 2001. I thought I was such a genius lol.
Heh; Same here, but I was called a cheater for it... Ever since then I map normally. =(

The point is to kill yourself before you kill your daughter, without letting her notice your death in a shocking way.
And, before dying, preparing the mansion so it is safe for her, so she won'r be bitten for death, and figure out a way to save her from this, by calling cops, digging a tunnel I DUNNO, DO SOMETHING. xD
Heh; That doesn't sound too bad, but I guess the Resident Evil Saga has already explored enough that core idea with both Sherry and Ashlie, I don't know how further it could be taken without it being the typical survival horror...

Ok, I got an idea: Meditation. I don't know if similar features exist in any games but this is something that I've been hesitant to implement on my game and I'd like to know everyone's opinion on the matter.
Since I'm like totally new age I'm not too comfortable with the idea of my characters leveling up through violence alone so I want them to spend some time meditating as well... The idea is like this: you as the player fight some monsters with 'team A' for 30 min and gain "points", then you go back to your "castle" leave 'team A' meditating and pick up 'team B' for at least another 15 min, and by the time you switch back, 'team A' would have already used their points and leveled up.
With this I want to make the player to constantly change parties and not be stuck with a single team the whole time, but I don't know if that a good thing. Is also worth mentioning that this will be mostly for stats increasing so the option to make the characters stronger through equipment or magic learning will always be there. But since leveling up several characters is already a painful process in any game I'm afraid that this extra step might be a deal-breaker... What do you guys think?
A Strange Issue
I don't know, why don't you try to change that "wait 0.7" command for a "wait until movement" or something like that, and give the engine time to do what is supposed to do...
Does anyone think this review is biased.

Done and done
I don't know, this whole thing is hilarious to me, but couldn't you guys at least post these in the general forum? =/

Eventually all the boards will be taken away and we will have to make elaborate forums out of PMs.
Don't give WIP any ideas.

Here you folks go!
That article sounds kind of dumb, first he says that a game where you get more and stronger powers as you progress is "failed design" because there is not a good level of difficulty towards the end, but his issue doesn't seem to be with bad balance in itself but the sole fact of gaining more and stronger powers, at which point is the player's choice to use the arsenal at his disposition or not in order to make the game more challenging. Then he basically goes: "Uh, what are all these icons on my screen? I'm comfortable with the way I've been playing all along, screw exploring all those skills and finding new and more interesting ways to do things" ...And let's not forget that the idea of a pathetic lv1 defeating the final boss is extremely anticlimactic, because if that's all that is needed then any npc could have defeated him in the time the hero takes to complete his de-leveling journey. Geez!
I don't know, trying to be different just for the sake of being different cannot be good... maybe.
RMXP Frankensprites/Recolors Needed
Ugh, I can't get a picture to follow my hero properly.
I'm guessing 2k3... Newblack, what's the problem you're having exactly? the way you describe seems fine to me: a parallel process whit two variables for the hero's coordinates, then a show picture command with said coordinates, and a wait 0.0s command at the end so there is not (much) lag, right?
However, in my opinion, the better way to do it is with a single show picture command before or right after you enter a new map, and having maps with a "border" so the hero is always in the center of the screen. this way no parallel processes are involved and no risk of lag in crappy computers like mine.

Oh, BTW, you guys are smart.

I'm just following wip's statement that not all criticism needs to be constructive. So if I want to be a whiny dick in response to someone being a whiny dick, that's ok, right?
I don't know about WIP, but I'd hate to see my words be taken out of context and then used as a "carte blanche" to justify someone else's childish behavior.
Edit: The context being games. He said it's preferable when someone gives you a harsh critique about your game rather than just mindless acceptation. It was not a permit to bitterly retaliate against that criticism like you have been doing here and there.

We should just have a single art topic
There's no need to make a new thread for feedback. Just post in a single thread for the same outcome. Then we don't have to sift through a ton of extra topics.
And we should have that topic pinned (and the pixels one too) so it doesn't get lost between a ton of other topics.
