@Boobledeeboo: Those portraits look awesome specially the last one, I love how you draw the eyes and lips, they look so full of life... however the hair doesn't look quite as convincing to me, maybe it's because of the white highlights but I think it looks like a wig or something.

@Tardis: I don't know much about photography but I like both photos, the contrast of warm and cold colors look very nice. I like the panorama more though because there is like a zig-zag pattern going on in it, and the sun looks like an eye... OH SHI- GOD IS WATCHING US!!

@Oh_no_Im_melting: Man that's some wicked stuff... where did you came up with the idea to draw that? I notice the Japanese painting motif going on but still I think it looks pretty unique. Btw, did you draw the background as well or its a photo? those clouds look very realistic.

@SorceressKyrsty: That's not bad at all, but it still looks kind of anime or cartoony to me... actually the lips look very good but the rest specially the hair and her jawline look a lot less defined and detailed. Try not to use brushes so soft, it makes everything look smoother and fake.

And well, I'll leave this here... What is it? Is it a fish? Is it a surfer? No, it's Super Boat!

Is Less More or More Less?

Then there was FF8 and Guardian Forces. The Guardian Forces seemed kind of really forced into it with that bit of the story attached just so that it would have a summoning system - oh and a junctioning system.
GFs were not the best system and yes, it genericized every character. HOWEVER, it was very involved in the story and not just stapled-on...

But I guess xeilmach's point still stands, as much as I love the junction system over the materia system, in ff7 you're introduced right from the beginning to the use and abuse of Mako energy, which is basically what Materias are made of, then you learn about the lifestream, about reincarnation, about Gaia, etc. In ff8 you "download" your first two GF's and the rest you can acquire in a varied number of ways. What are GF's then? Where do they come from? Why do they erase memories?. I think none of that stuff is ever really explained in game, only theorized by fans and thus making the game mechanics around them look more artificial compared to those of ff7.

That looks awesome, but he looks rather thin from the sides, doesn't he? He needs a bit of a tummy or something...

Blue Magic (and other "missable" skills)

author=GreatRedSpirit
I hate the learning method though. Christ knows what spells can be learned, or if an enemy even has them. I don't even think the enemies that teach Big Guard in FF7 even use the skill.

That's why Blue Mages often come with the scan ability don't they? Or at least that's how I remember it. But yeah, it can also be a very painful task to go around scanning every enemy on sight just to find out a very few of them can "teach" an ability...

Well, here is an idea: how about learning an ability after scanning certain combination of monster? Something like: "if I could combine the strengths of that monster and the strengths of that other one I could develop an awesome new technique" so in this way after scanning a bunch of enemies you could enter a menu where you could study their abilities, mix them and such (like if you were fusing items) and in result learning new spells.

...dunno, I guess I need some sleep. -_-

UPDATE 1: An Intro, and a Video of...an Intro

Very cool stuff, I too dig the interesting battle setup, but I'm wondering how would it look with more than one character in battle at the same time, not too cramped I hope. I'm also confused about the function of the bar below the character when she's on demon form, it seems to vary a lot for some reason.

Other little thing that looked odd to me were the enemies spotting you again right before they disappear, and the hyperactive dancing plants, they should be slower really. In the other hand, kudos for all the cool poses, I specially like the running animation.

Keep up the good work!

Liberty Plays the Legion Saga Sagas (and other classics possibly)

Yay! More videos to catch up with, I'll go watch them now! ...also, congrats on the new title! =)

Edit: Oh, but you are. ;P

Giving Feedback: Pass or Fail

author=LockeZ
My problem isn't simply that this kind of feedback isn't as useful as feedback about the whole game. I don't just think it's less useful, I actually think it's potentially harmful. I really think that this kind of thread encourages people to spend their effort on the superficial parts of their games.

I believe no kind of feedback can be bad not even when it comes with a pinch of rudeness, and it's because there is so little of it going around... It would be like turning down dirty water on a desert. (not that I think that's the case here). Now, if some "developers" feel encouraged to spend their effort on the superficial parts of their games like you say then it's their own fault and their own damn fault only, not the person taking as little or as much as fifteen minutes of its time trying to help them.

WHEN THAT BECOMES A RULE I'LL FOLLOW IT

Seriously? This is how you react? You should really try to make use of the tools available to you in this site in a conscious way and act maturely without "the rules" or anyone else compelling you into it... Who knows? You may like it.

Edit:Edit: Meh, whatever...

So, contrary to requests made here, I will not "blog better."

Why not? Is it too much to ask? Please, drop the attitude. ...and btw, you should be glad there are no "guidelines".
