Try Gulpy Gulpy - weirdest and funniest game on English speaking RM scene.

Oh jeez you had to remind me of that game. Yeah I'm aware of it. To me it's more annoying than funny. I will say that it was funny to hear the reaction of the guy playing it on youtube though.

Try Persona 4. So many funny, crazy events. XD

I didn't realize Persona was a humorous game. I've heard those games are really good but haven't had time to try any of them. Would you say Persona 4 would be a good first game to play in the Shin Megami series?

I actually bought 4 games recently (mostly only had time to play 1 of them being Xenoblade) and among those 4 is a comedy game based on the tv show Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law. So, far it's pretty funny it's definitely worth the 30 cents I paid for it. (It was with a bunch of bargain bin PS2 games)

Video game tunes that get stuck in your head often?

I've been playing Xenoblade recently and this is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.

Eerie persistance of first games

I named a number of characters in my game without considering whether those names fitted the African theme. Eventually, I did change some of them to fit the theme. For example Citan became Bahati which sounds much more African (Plus, Citan was blatantly named after a Xenogears character lol.) But, at least 3 characters kept the names that I originally made for them including: Lanoa, Rawjal, and Clua. I just grew too attached to those names to change them. Although, I did eventually give them African inspired last names like Lanoa Lumumba. Patrice Lumumba was the first Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Congo after they had won independence from Belgium.

Anyway, I suppose the point I'm trying to get at is basically what Solitayre was talking about.

However, I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with maintaining an attachment to a particular character, idea, setting, etc. In fact, I'd say that a genuine fondness for your story and characters are absolutely essential to telling any kind of interesting or worthwhile story.

Inspired by art and music to make a game?

Well my game is entirely inspired by African art, music, and culture. So to answer your question: YES.

I like that song you posted by the way I think I'll bookmark it.

[Poll] Humorous or serious - Which do you prefer?

I choose - I like them all equally well.

I like serious games but, I wish there were more comedy games out there cause so far the funniest game I ever played was Conker's Bad Fur Day and that game is really old. You would think something would have topped it by now but not that I've seen.

Whats your favorite gibberish

Good pick Isrieri. Every episode that had the Scotsman was awesome.

Are any of you guys in a bad financial situation?

@RedMask

I've subbed here and there for a while. The pay is okay. On average its about $100-120 USD where I live for a day's work and the pay will scale depending on how long the sub assignment is. I can definitely relate to your experience. Classroom and faculty environments can really differ depending on the school and district. Unfortunately, from my experience, subs are generally disrespected by both the administration and student body more often than not. If you do decide to sub, stay away from middle school. If you plan on continuing to stay in the classroom in any sort of capacity then I recommend you look into shouldering some extra debt and try and get your Single / Multi Subject credential and become an actual K-12 teacher. Programs usually last a year (maybe more) and you have to spend quite a bit of time in the classroom as a proxy "assistant teacher". I'm not sure how much you get paid as an aid, but it will sure as hell feel good to get paid a salary.

Honestly, I'm not sure if I want to make education into a career. But, thanks for the tips janussenpre. I'm still trying to figure out what to do with my life.

I love the idea for the magic system in this game. It sounds like it will allow for a lot of experimentation.

Legality of easter eggs

If I remember right, one of the Donkey Kong Country games has Sonic's shoes next to a garbage can.

Also, Final Fantasy I had the name of Dragon Quest's main character written on a grave. In the remakes they used Link's name from Zelda.

Do these sprites look good?

I've seen a number of games that my brother plays online that have really small sprites like this so I think these sprites could work.
I would like to see the characters in a screenshot or two though for context.
As long as the sprites work in their environment I figure it'd be fine.
