Favorite NES Games

Kirby's Adventure takes first place for me because of childhood memoies and also it's really fantastic
Final Fantasy III would be my second favorite because it's the first Final Fantasy game that plays well FF 1 and 2 are way too old school (that being said I still played them)
The Legend of Zelda will be my third place winner why cause it's Zelda

Your favorite game EVER!

The Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask
It has the great gameplay of Ocarina of Time but with a far more interesting world to explore.

Nudity in Games

Just a quick update
I did in fact include a notepad labeled "Content Warning" in the game to warn players about game's mature content.

Games based on World Cultures

Well just so you all know I've been learning about African art, culture, music, architecture, religion, mythology, folktales, history and more for about 6 years now.

But it's worth noting I did NOT make a documentary game, I made a fantasy game that simply draws from my knowledge of Africa.

Also, Backwards_Cowboy my friend, just letting you know there are in fact many books written about Africa written by people who have extensively researched the cultures there.
Here's a good example of an African book:

"A history of art in Africa" by Monica Blackmun VisonĂ
(I tried putting in a google books link but the link didn't work)

One more thing, NebelSoft, I'm glad you think Terranigma is good because I intend on playing Terranigma eventually.

Games based on World Cultures

Would you like to see more cultures represented in video games other than Greece, Japan, and Europe in general?
I know I would.

Lets here what all of you think are underrepresented cultures in games.

Personally I think Africa is definitely underutilized. All you ever see of Africa in games is usually Egypt which is great but there is a lot more on the continent. There is the amazing masks of the Dogon and Bwa, the impressive architecture of the Ashanti. The bronze sculptures of the Benin, the Great Ruins of Zimbabwe and much more.

Which is why I made my game "Nsala Liberation" African themed.
(Shameless plug)(I thought it was relevant to the topic but if the moderators want I'll edit it out of the topic)

I also wish there were more games focused on the cultures of the Americas such as the Inca from Peru, the Olmec, the Aztec, the Mayan, and various Native American groups.

Illusion of Gaia for the SNES had an Incan level. That game is amazing by the way I wish there were more games like it. If you haven't heard of it, basically its an RPG where you explore ruins from our own real world.

Nudity in Games

author=unity
I have no problem with nudity in games, as long as it makes sense in context, of course.

For the official site ruling on it, this thread discusses that in more detail.

Alrighty then. Thanks for sending me that link unity.

So, I probably won't have a problem uploading my game then. That's good to know. Thank you to everyone who responded.

I think I may put a disclaimer either at the start of the game or in a notepad in the game's folder just to warn players about the mature content of the game.

Fun Fact - I just remembered,
there's actually a great animated movie called "Kirikou and the Sorceress" that also has traditional African nudity and that movie won a ton of awards. So my game is in good company I think.

Nudity in Games

As some of you know I am making a game that is based around African culture. Since, a number of people in Africa traditionally don't cover themselves as we do in the west, there are a number of nude characters in the game.
Keep in mind the nudity in the game is all just tiny pixel characters. You can't see nipples or genitals.
Also, in my defense there's a popular RPGMaker game called "Desert Nightmare" that has nudity.
So, hopefully that's okay with all of you because it would be really ridiculous if I had to censor tribal nudity.

One more thing while I'm checking to see if the nudity thing is okay with all of you, I should also note (SPOILER ALERT) that the villain of the game is a colonist and if you know your history that means there's slavery and genocide involved. The game is by no means super violent but it is vital that my game show the horrors of colonization. Plus, the goal of my game is to free slaves so it's an integral plot element.
Also, the slaves in the game are extracting coltan which is a way for my game to raise awareness of the current crisis in the Congo in which people in our time are being enslaved to dig up coltan. Which is a substance used in all computers, cell phones, and game systems.
So, my game is a little bit like the movie "Blood Diamond"
So, hopefully that's okay cause without it my story will be nothing.

Making Your Game Work Without the RTP

Is this info applicable to RPG maker XP games?
I've been wondering for a while now as to whether I need to include the rgss rtp with my game but that would add a lot of megabytes to the download.

What are you jamming to?

I was going to share some anime music I was just listening to but then I thought this is a good opportunity to show some cool African stuff.
Now this video isn't so much about the song it's interesting because ...

A guy makes music with a BOW, a STICK, and a KNIFE

[Poll] Which game engine do you prefer?

The game I'm making on is on XP it's the only one I used a lot. I tried VX at a friends house. It seemed good but I probably would miss the layering options if I were to seriously use it. In fact, I tend to sometimes use events as a 4th graphical layer because sometime there is ba lot going visually on in one little area.
