Who are these new guys? [Contributors & Staff]
Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core
Tseng was pretty awesome. Genesis was such a dyke. In high school, he'd be the smelly trenchcoat wearing fag nobody wanted around (no offense to the smelly trenchcoat wearing fags among us ;))
I did really like the scene where Zack "grows up" though. You know the one.

I'd be interested in hearing about the processes you and your team went through in order to get up to this level. Like, what you had to do/ learn, what pitfalls your team fell into. Perhaps, why it was cancelled, and what could have been done to have prevented that from happening?

That's still not an excuse to do nothing with the battle graphics. The problem I'm alluding to, is the fact that while he put well over the normal amount of effort into making the little sprites animate on the map (such as when the main character flexes her arm after getting it fixed), he didn't do anything (or at most, bare minimal) to the default battle graphics.
Frankly, I would have preferred if he had swapped out the deformed battlers for their smaller map counterparts (like FF6). He definitely demonstrated enough graphical prowess to do so. But he didn't. So while the dungeons were top-notch and a feature worth boasting, the battles were about as appealing as any other generic rm2k3 newbie's first games, if only better balanced. And a game's only as strong as its weakest link.
Brickroad's got to keep in mind, the community keeps a standard for graphics that is not easily attained without doing the "retarded" process you've outlined. While his intentions are very noble, he's either going to have to work his ass to produce graphics that others are easily emulating with rips, or he'll have to accept that people are going to be biased to the fact that his work mostly looks like any other rtp game.

Yeah, but he put very little effort into the graphics there. I was pretty pleased with all the extra little animations he did outside of battle, but default battle characters + default battle animations = >:(
Honestly, I was having a lot more fun figuring out how to solve each puzzle. Then a wolf or some chicken would be standing where I needed to be, and I'd be like :(

When I played this long ago, I got to the guild, found out I couldn't go downstairs without talking to everyone, promptly exclaimed "BULLSHIT!" and ended it there.
But actually, the dungeon design is very ingenious. If Brickroad had left out the DBS and concentrated solely on the puzzles, it definitely would've been a much bigger hit. Right now, all the default battle stuff just drags the game down.

The "Here's an idea" thread
I've always liked Persona 3's system:
Basically you play the role of a normal kid going through school, but at night, a tower appears that only you (and certain chosen others) can go to.
So by day, you're building relationships with others, making friends, which improves your stats.
Then by night, you attempt to climb further and further up the tower, where enemies get progressively harder.
And as the days go by, the environment changes to reflect that. For example, in summer, everyone switches to more casual wear. There were also special events that occurred on set dates, such as festivals, or vacations.

Well.. I am technically making a proper game out of all of this.
It's just that, that game isn't Alter A.I.L.A. Crisis.

But who knows. If I have time somewhere along the way, I might make something of this or use this somewhere.
