Skills/Virtues you have or wished you had.

When you say you're smart, it doesn't actually mean anything unless you include what you're smart at. People who are generally labeled "smart", usually means that they've demonstrated adaptability to their school's regime and can regurgitate the information provided to them when necessary. Those same people might not necessarily be "street-smart", or would be a loss at what to do at a dance club (and therefore, not be very smart about their conduct there!)

Alter A.I.L.A. Genesis

Hey TG, that's actually not too bad. In fact, for the original Alter AILA, that would've been pretty appropriate (especially your note on the Ophiuchus sign). Nah, it wouldn't be that hard to implement either. The only time-consuming part would be drawing up the sprites for them.

I'm not planning to include any Zodiac symbology in Genesis though, unfortunately. One of the reasons is because doing what I originally did would mean certain party members have to be grouped together according to their signs. I'm changing the story around pretty drastically, and am trying to stay away from set defined groups, so that's part of the reason why. As well, they were never really all that important to the main story, and were just a neat little side thing.

Progress-wise, I guess 20% sounds pretty good. Off the top of my head, I guess its something like this?

Battle-Programming 80%
Battle-Graphics 75%
Systems 85%
Story 50%
Mapping 1%

Basically, most of the battle and systems work is done. I've barely mapped any of the areas yet, and that's probably going to take the most time. Actually, I'm considering making periodic demo releases since I'm not even sure I'll be able to finish this one. But I'll try. ;).

If we all had samurai swords this situation could've been avoided!

or escalated.

Now, I'm not a gun-advocate in any shape or form, but I've been told that its a good idea in general to head down to a shooting range and just learn how to load and shoot a handgun and a rifle. Since you don't want to be fumbling around if you ever find yourself in a situation where you need to defend yourself with a firearm.

Well I haven't played it, but the presentation is very consistent and captures the feeling that he's aiming for. So yes, he gets +100 points for that.

To quote what someone else said about this:

"Can you imagine waking up bleeding and wounded, at the mercy of a knife-wielding psycho, and everyone is just running past you, all intent on only saving themselves."

Granted he was dead by the time everyone realized there was a psycho in the midsts, but its still chilling to think that if this happens in a public area, you'll likely be on your own.

Iffermoon
Lagged too much to play.

Dragon Fantasy 2
Sorry Ephiam, I'm just not a fan of retro DW-style games.

U.S.G.: A New Beginning
Being as big a graphics whore as they come, the pretty portraits and sci-fi setting lured me in pretty quickly. Unfortunately I was put off by the rather simplistic geometric shapes that composed most of the main game (I like my flashy effects and photoshop lens flares alright?). Still, kudos for making a shmup in XP.

Aurora Wing
Impressive coding-wise, and generally well-put together. I wish battles would play out faster though, especially when characters would attack several times in succession, and each individual attack would take 2-4 seconds per hit. I imagine building this as the indie equivalent of drinking soup with a fork (this and JKB's Miyagi anyways).

Kinetic Cipher
The Real Brickroad indeed. Dungeon design is top-notch. The little sprite animation details are also great. I'm VERY put off by the way he handled battles though, in that its pretty much all stock RTP battle char.s and battle animations. Also, I stopped paying attention to the story after the game told me I couldn't go downstairs at the beginning without talking to everyone (The only instances I've encountered so far, where I want to talk to everyone, is when I'm playing Earthbound or its derivatives).
