That's the terribly mediocre RPG with the characters named after Hollywood actors. Ugh. It sounds like The Way and Bob's Big Adventure aren't terribly good, either.

I can't make things like houses and trees until I know the scale of the character sets. So, all I did was try to make a cutscene with my new tablet this weekend. It didn't work out as well as I had planned, though.

This game... I actually showed Dragoon Legends screens as an example of what kind of games can be made with Macromedia (now Adobe) products such as Flash, as part of a presentation last spring.

Yesterday, I did nothing. But, Thursday, I made a map of the first town of Birth of a Legend using my new tablet. Right now, it's just the land- no buildings or trees yet. That's because I'm trying to decide what to do for character sets.

Haven't run into any script issues yet, though I have a feeling I will, possibly with resizing the screen. Example: If my charasets are 64x64, they'll only have 8 X 7 (32x32) tiles to walk on!

I've redone the map of Lakelan Town, I'm going to add trees and bushes as a character set, as well as houses. Those characters are going to change soon, as well.

No progress yet (on Birth of a Legend), but good news! I will be getting a graphics tablet this Thursday- thus removing the need to conserve paper, as there won't be any! Anything can be changed at anytime.
However, I did make progress on a future project, as I came up with story and concepts for a game that takes place in a nearly-frozen world. Frozen as in cold, not time.

Challenging the Standards
Why couldn't it just be that monsters love shiny objects? And, in the case of slimes, the gold is what's left after they dissolved the last traveler?
Stronger monsters can slaughter travelers that carry more gold, so they then have more gold. And a Gold Golem would naturally leave behind a lot of gold.
