VIDEOWIZARD'S PROFILE

I've been at making games for RPG Maker for almost 20 years! No, they're not ALL Dragon Kingdoms games, just most of 'em.

Dragon Quest IX

Dragon Quest IX has to be released in North America after April 30, 2010, as SE has no plans to release it this fiscal year. May 19 was just a guess, though I have seen May 5, 2010 thrown around as a placeholder date.

Your First Game

My first game was about 20 years ago, and has been lost to the sands of time.
There were a few after that, then Mario Paint came out, and I made a few on that. Using stamps for the characters, having a status window at the top or bottom of the screen, using stamps for the numbers and letters.

And then RPG Maker came out, making my first public effort Dragon Kingdoms. I made four games in four years in the series after that (and it shows), along with several other incomplete games, including Celestial Descent, and then I started taking more time to develop them. Still no 30-40 hour games, yet!

08-15-2009: Experience Bug Slain

Is it because there were no monsters higher than level 40? I've seen that happen in some games. Heck, Final Fantasy Mystic Quest barely goes beyond 40 (it stops at 41), and Dragon Quest games effectively stop around level 40 as well. And as for RM2k(3) games, level 20 is often the end of the game (or demo).

Worst game you personally do like.

Dragon Quest (Warrior) II. The NES version. Why is it bad? And why do I like it so much?
Well, it can kill your characters off if you so much as go a little in the wrong direction in many areas, but:
it's plenty playable (if frustrating) if you play where you are supposed to go, which can be unclear at times. At least, this works until you get to the Rhone Cave/Plateau area, where it becomes a roll of the dice even at level 50/45/35.

It's more than a bit shocking that only DQ1, 2, 3 (barely), 7 and 8 ever did (relatively) well in North America.
And DQ4 DS joins the list, apparently. I'm not sure we can blame DQ4 NES, if a limited production run is to be believed. Too bad for DQ5 DS, though.

World Map - Mirror.png

It's just the default RPG Maker 2 (SNES) world map tiles, but what you've done with them goes far beyond what ASCII (now Enterbrain) did with them back in the day. Good work!

Maybe you'll have to fight monsters within it, including invisible rocket launchers until you find a Soul that can allow you to see them! /soulblazer

A rather sparse town, at that. You don't have to 3-tile rule it, of course, but it would be nice to see other signs of civilization there. Just two houses and three people. If there are roads, perhaps there could be horse carriages or something using them?

Chrono Trigger

BBM = Bubble Bobble Monsters
A52 = Action 52
??? = Chrono Trigger

ERROR. DOES NOT COMPUTE.

More Bubble Bobble! And Dragon Quest I tiles. This should've been a Bubble Bobble RPG or something.
And no, not the horrible Action 52! Anything but that! Lavos destroyed the world, but A52 will destroy your sanity!

Bubble Bobble creatures in Chrono Trigger RM2k3? And why does Drunk look like Link?
