VIDEOWIZARD'S PROFILE

I've been at making games for RPG Maker for almost 20 years! No, they're not ALL Dragon Kingdoms games, just most of 'em.

Dragon Kingdoms IV

"I can't imagine how the other three games played after touching this game. This needs so much work."
It's pretty much what you see is what you get, although I admit direction could be better. It's more like the early Dragon Quest games, storywise, in that events only happen through travel and characters lack development.

As for the bugs, I'd say this game is the low point out of the five. I recently played through the first and only found a couple, and have played through part of the second. I don't recall there being too many in the third outside those caused in RM95 itself (don't hold shift). Then, of course, there's the fifth game, which I actually held back for almost half a year to play through it again.

It's too bad you didn't enjoy this game, but don't let it detract you from later offerings.

RPG Maker DS

Anyway.
Sure. Console 'Makers have failed in the past...

But, EB hasn't ever developed one for a console...have they.
You can't speak for the success of one developer's game by the failure of other developers, now can you?
:P

Except that Agetec is just a figurehead in North America and maybe Europe, and Enterbrain is the actual developer of RPG Maker 2 (really RPG Maker 5) & 3 for PS2, at least. Before that, it was ASCII for those RPG Makers.

So, in fact, possibly up to 6 RPG Makers have been developed for consoles, and 3 for portables. This would be the fourth.

An RM fighting game...

The way I see it, the big names should be playable, lesser names would be assists, and a mix of both could be bosses. Maybe a couple surprises could be thrown in (who are the Ice Climbers? who's Marth? etc. like in SSBM back in 2001).

The RPG Maker equivalent, I suppose, would be putting Isod or Carter (or both) in a character slot, but that isn't likely to happen.

An RM fighting game...

And to add to what Darken said, to allow for sequels or assists in the current game. Which reminds me. Didn't we have one of these topics some time ago?

Edit: Wow, this topic moves fast. As for starting our own, is there some script in RMXP or RMVX that I don't know about?

RPG Maker DS

It won't be coming to the Western shores.

Didn't Action Game Maker get a very similar treatment before it got re-branded as IG Maker? There's a difference between "no word on a release" and no, it won't be released.

I wouldn't be surprised if RPG Maker DS were released in North America just in time for summer vacations next year.

Skill Progression System Help

The problem with cutting off gaining TP at, say, level 40, is that might be when you reach the end of the game. The player might not reach the end of the game until level 70 or later, at which point, there would have been NO point gains for over 30 levels.

Even Dragon Quest VIII kept the skill points gaining until level 99, as long as that takes. Not everyone advances at the same rates, especially compared to the developer.

Goodbye RMN!

It makes you seem more proffesional.

Oh I see what you did there!

So, half the site is leaving (not really). I suppose RMN is too amateur and not proffesional enough, er, professional enough. Can't we just have fun with our games and not have to worry about looking like the best 1996 SNES RPG?

Participation in the Game Making Community

As to the "no games" argument, isn't there a topic called "Games Released in 2009"?

Maybe there should be a few preview images for those games in the 2010 edition when it starts in January? I'm not sure how to work that out.

Does anyone in Phoenix even know what hockey is?

There's no reason a hot place can't have a successful NHL team. Florida has two teams! Seriously though, Thunder Bay should get a team. They're right on the border, so they'd draw US fans, and they'd get people from the Sault (on both sides of the border) and probably from Winnipeg, too. I'd say the 'peg should get another chance, but they blew it the first time so... should they?

Thunder Bay should get a team. The problem is, people would probably confuse it with the Lightning, unless you're proposing that the (Tampa Bay) Lightning move to Canada.

According to the rankings, it is Florida that is floundering (losing 9.4 million/year) and Tampa Bay is barely keeping afloat (1.2 mil/yr). It seems that it would've been a better bet to have a team in Yellowknife than Phoenix (down almost 10 million a year), although travel may be a problem.
