FLYINGJESTER'S PROFILE

I am the Jester.

I make games using JavaScript, C, C++, Mercury, Java, Assembly (amd64 and UltraSparc) and Python. I used to use Sphere a lot, but I'm more into C/C++ and Mercury nowadays. I still use JavaScript and embed it sometimes, and I usually use Python for build systems and system management.

I wrote TurboSphere, which is a recreation of the Sphere Game Engine with a number of major improvements. I'm not really working on it anymore.

I'm surely going to finish making a game someday. I mean, sooner or later, it's bound to happen. Right?

New RPG Engine characters/tilesets.

It seems a little odd to me that you'd store all tilesets with pooled indices, rather than just using keeping the indices relative to the tileset. But I have never used RPG Maker, so I have relatively little knowledge of how they do it in RM.

I'm glad to hear it is SM. V8 is horrific :)

Are you running all scripts under the same context, or are you sandboxing them in their own contexts? Will your engine be open source? There are many more platforms and even processor architectures that SM is capable of supporting than what you mentioned.

What's up with all the people suddenly moving their projects to MV? I mean, it's not like VX Ace is going to become a shadow of the past that soon... Right?

I'm more curious what's up with all these people paying a lot of money for engines that have very arbitrary artificial limits placed on them.

New RPG Engine characters/tilesets.

Why not just make the tiles and tilesets any arbitrary size? Why attach artificial limits that way?

Also, which JS engine are you using?

No-RM Event

The source for my custom TBS engine is up on GitHub.

It can load tilesets and specially prepared maps. But you've got to start somewhere, right?

What are you thinking about right now?

I just reread that page (because...I don't know why...) and I suddenly have this urge to only describe games in iambic pentameter now.

Just make one minute of game play and have the game loop ten times. Problem solved.

RMN v4.3 Bugs

I'm wondering, why don't notices I mark as read in one tab clear the flashing alerts in other tabs?
I wouldn't expect them to, except that notices will popup in real time, without me refreshing the page. So I expect them to disappear in real time as I mark them as read, too.

No-RM Event

What about no engine at all? That's an engine, too!

I mean, if you go to a page for a game with a custom engine, RMN specifically says the game is "for Custom"!

What are you thinking about right now?

Llamas are much better than lions. For one, they can spit a really long way with startling accuracy. Whereas the lion only has its teeth and claws, the llama has a ranged defense mechanism.

Wow, I guess a lot of people are using Renpy! That's just alright with me, Python can be a very beautiful language.

Pro-tip for anyone gearing up for RM MV (and by extension JS and JSON):
JSON is actually syntactically correct JS, you can use it as JS source code...but it actually works as correct Python code, too!
