FLYINGJESTER'S PROFILE

I am the Jester.

I make games using JavaScript, C, C++, Mercury, Java, Assembly (amd64 and UltraSparc) and Python. I used to use Sphere a lot, but I'm more into C/C++ and Mercury nowadays. I still use JavaScript and embed it sometimes, and I usually use Python for build systems and system management.

I wrote TurboSphere, which is a recreation of the Sphere Game Engine with a number of major improvements. I'm not really working on it anymore.

I'm surely going to finish making a game someday. I mean, sooner or later, it's bound to happen. Right?

RMN v4.6 a.k.a. "Backlog"

Wow! Thanks, Anklyo!

RMN v4.6 a.k.a. "Backlog"

Opus is just an audio format. It's very similar in most ways to flac and ogg. When I click on an opus file in the locker, I just get a prompt to download it, instead of having it play in the locker or in browser.

For example, I want this:
http://rpgmaker.net/users/FlyingJester/locker/night_at_the_river.opus
To work the same as this:
http://rpgmaker.net/users/FlyingJester/locker/night_at_the_river.ogg

I've got windowstyles, font drawing, and audio playback working now.

Soon I'll be able to actually start making content =P

Most browsers (aka, Chrome and Firefox) can natively play Opus. How are other formats played in the locker?

What are you thinking about right now?

ffmpeg seems pretty simple to me...

ffmpeg -i pickled_ginger.avi pickled_ginger.gif

Then again, I do basically all audio and video editing on the command line, so I'm used to it.

Opus is promoted as being suitable for small snippets of audio, unlike vorbis, but it is not designed in a way that excludes longer files. It simply allows much smaller dictionaries than other codecs such as vorbis, but it can have large dictionaries as well.

You could think of its main differences from ogg vorbis being that it can scale its compression techniques much better, it has extremely low latency, and that it has the ability to generate very lossy and mostly lossless sections much easier.

I've yet to see Opus files be notably larger than ogg vorbis, MP3, or even AAC for the same audio and bitrate. In some cases they are slightly smaller than even AAC, which is usually quite good.

Can we get support for playing Opus audio files in the locker?

A little night music.

Also, opus audio support on RMN when?

What are you thinking about right now?

Mirak: You can export video to GIF using ffpmeg. That's how I would do it.

I happen to like MIDI.

However, my game will only be using Opus audio files :)
