FLYINGJESTER'S PROFILE

I am the Jester.

I make games using JavaScript, C, C++, Mercury, Java, Assembly (amd64 and UltraSparc) and Python. I used to use Sphere a lot, but I'm more into C/C++ and Mercury nowadays. I still use JavaScript and embed it sometimes, and I usually use Python for build systems and system management.

I wrote TurboSphere, which is a recreation of the Sphere Game Engine with a number of major improvements. I'm not really working on it anymore.

I'm surely going to finish making a game someday. I mean, sooner or later, it's bound to happen. Right?

I use middle click all the time, and it works fine on rmn for me.

I would suspect it should be

Working on a new Earthbound sorta game called Zanthoids.

I've never played Earthbound...

Me either.

Yet I still buy Earthbound Farms produce, just because of the name. I would like to think the name has lead to most of their success, and also that they have no idea what Earthbound is.

I've been to two real concerts ever, if you don't count the Alaska Folk Fest.

One was the 40th anniversary of the Allman Brothers Band at the Beacon Theater in New York City. I didn't like it at all. It was too loud (and not like rock-loud, just like these guys are really old and they turned them up to make up for their failing abilities).

I've also been to an acoustic Jeff Tweedy concert in Northampton, Connecticut (we drove from New York City, the day after the Allman Brothers concert). That was awesome. It was an amazing experience, and it helped shape how I see the performance of live music.

[Poll] I HATE THE POETS

They only deal in shallow representations of true forms, unconcerned with the truth beneath.
I always thought you were a poet?

Self-loathing isn't an unheard of thing for poets.

Being 11 was awesome. I've no sympathy at all.

Edit: I initially thought the admin-hate thread was a witty response to the users-hate thread, since I read the users-hate thread first. I'm just used to Kentona's angsty humor, I guess.

[Poll] Hello

Hello, hello, it's me. Just seeing if you wanna do something. I hated talking to your machine, so when you get this call me back, ok?

That's similar to how I used to feel about singing. If I worked on my singing every day for a couple weeks, I began to feel really confident in my ability. But when I didn't sing for a couple days, suddenly I was right back where I started.

I think innate ability does matter, though. I'm a much better guitar player than I am a singer, and I can take a month or two off playing guitar and pick back up quite close to where I was when I stopped. Sometimes I even go back to some other instruments I used to play more often (piano, violin) and I do not wonder how I played some of the songs that were right at the edge of my abilities. They are still in reach.

On the other hand, in the last year, I took a couple months away from singing, but when I came back I was still much better than I expected. I wonder if I finally broke through some level of skill, and now that I have a deeper understanding, I keep more skill without practicing as often.

I wonder if that's how innate talent manifests itself, at least for me. I lose less ground without practice in things I am talented at.

It's been a different colour for well over a year now, I just decided on pink for a little while. Don't worry, I'll change it back to my pretty blue soon enough. I can only handle so much pink before wanting to scream.

I specifically meant the pink. I'd noticed you had a cyan name for a long time.
