1/1.5 - so horribile I will not mention it. No one would like this trash.
2/2.5 - bad but with some good qualities or good
but with many bad flaws. Could have been worse and some people may like it anyway.
3/3.5 - from decent to good games. This is what I normally expect: entertainment. Some people may like it more, others less but it's ok!
4/4.5 - exceeded my expectations. These are must play for everyone.
5 - Rpgmaker Nirvana
*NOTE*: event games/jam submissions and other games that were developed in a very short time or with other restrictions get a rating bonus (usually +0,5), you are warned!

Call of the Archon Review
author=thedarkdreamer
Well another thing I noticed, I dunno if the original creator(s) made this mistake or not, though when you get Daisy in your party and you have to go to Aurora City, you can still go back to "Snowflake Town" and add people to your party. Which is 0_0 Wat. Though when the Guard throws you in prison, then you have to break everyone out of prison. Though then you still have people in your party, so that's a real big error!! I guess the original creators were just trying to make a game and put it out there? Even so, that is a great error.
I keep playing it and finding weird things that make no sense really. :/
Ooooooh yes, I see! I totally missed that I guess!

Though now I'm doing three "advanced", rather installments to Call of the Archon, one with a witch who wants to become a goddess, one with a dark sorceress in search of Lakeria's gemstones and ancient runes that hold the world of Lakeria in tact, that is kinda FF ish, and then a Call of the Archon on rm2k3, that has summons available, that make sense in terms of the story - summons magic attack are now through physical attack rather than magical, and dual elements, or triple. That and way better graphics + status fx, and newer things for the game. That one is pretty sick so far.
cool, very curious about this!

Thanks for another review, I remember reading the one you did for the RM2K3 version of "A Celestial Weapon", and I think you did Standard Disney Fare as well. :)
YEP! Exactly I still have the RM2K3 version of "A Celestial Weapon" archived because I love RM2K3 games and I also liked the modern setting of this game, I'll probably replay it someday heheh!

Love your captions you include to go with the images. Just one thing: When it came to the side quests and the main quest, you do get a journal in the item menu which reminds you where your next objective is if you activate it.
I like taking pics!
Uhmmm yes, but in the beginning if I am right there is no journal isn't it? Right after starting at the apartments... nor you have the letter/leaflet about the main quest.

Thank you for the review. I'm very sorry I didn't thank you for your work and getting through my game, I had a rough year. I see you had fun, and that pleases me the most.
I'm sort of delighted that you appreciated the resource side of the game despite me not actually creating these from grounds up. If you were curious, battle sprites actually come from RPG Maker DS Resource Packs, and while you thought music comes from various sources, it's actually one single source, two Retro RPG Music Packs. I can't really find the documentation that would point me to the composer, though.
Again, thank you for the kind words in your review!
Hi!
YES! That's PG Maker DS Resource Packs! I liked it I think it's a cool graphic pack that's sadly underused! I did not know of the Retro RPG Music Packs, but hey music is the aspect I know less than others, sadly! In any case this was a pretty cool little game!

Wow and you even gave this demo a shot!! Thanks so much!
all the little things I worked on in the past, I think this got the most praise. I suppose if I do get back into RPG Maker one day, I could definitely revisit this...
As an aside, I never actually finished that Transition book. It had too many dumb sex depictions, LOL
it was definitely a charming short demo! Really made me curious at the time... I even played it 2/3 times. Heh

Oh wow, was not expecting a new review in the year *checks notes* 2023??? Maybe i'll make a new game......someday ;w;
Either way thanks for playing this old game and taking time to write about it!
YAY! Happy to see you still around. Oh well yes, I'm an old player of old games, I think I started in 2003 playing rpgmaker games (first italian ones) but I missed some good old ones like this one (my favourite engine is still rm2k3 lol!)
Anyway good game!

Thank you so much for the review!! I'm really glad you enjoyed it!
As someone still not too confident on my writing, it's really heartening to hear it's good :')
(About the silence in the main menu, I thought it could feel a bit strange to hear music after coming back to the menu after the ending. I imagine it might have worked better to keep it silent if it was a whole different title screen altogether, but that was a bit harder to implement without save files...)
Nahh it was good. Really short but good!
