Favourite game and program
- Software: Sphere, been a junkie since 0.92
- Games: Currently, my favorite game I've made for it is Jack, mainly due to the high ratio of result to effort. Once my current semi-big game is finished, it'll change to that, and then later to The Rainis Manuscript once that's done.
- Other Games: The first version of Trial and Error by DRosen was a big favorite, especially since it was a good learning experience for myself. In The Steps Of Blackfoot, and Zero's Impossible Fortress, both by SDHawk are also great works in my view. SDHawk has made a lot of creative stuff for a lot engines, but I always see his Blackfoot game to be the best polished result. Aquatis by Metallix is also on my list, though I haven't played the most recent version of it yet.
Grand Theft Release Something! IV: Guns of the Patriots [Sept 22nd]
My release seems to be going along. Most of the trailer is done except for the last scene, which is going to be from a part I haven't made yet, so it'll need a bit of work. After that's done, I'll see if I can get someone to make some music for it instead of using the ripped stuff I have now.
A Game Based On The Second Coming?
You can definitely do something with the premise, and it doesn't mean you'd be making a Jesus fanfic or whatever. Hell, you don't even have to mention Jesus for that matter.
Take for example a graphic novel I highly recommend looking into: "Therefore Repent." It's a graphic novel based on what the author (a non-religious guy) came up with when one asks 'what would happen if the Christian right was actually right?' It takes place after the rapture where all the good Christian souls have ascended into heaven while everyone else is left on earth. It follows two people who were left behind and are just taking it as they go before the final Apocalypse comes. Things change though when angels in military gears and machine guns start shooting up the sinners, and those sinners themselves start to get weird magical abilities (like taking some burning ashes and then transforming that into a bunch of birds that'll poke your eyes out). On the face of it, it sounds like it could be stupid, but it's well done, follows believable characters, and tells a great story.
There's a lot of stuff you can do, and you can come up with whatever you think you would like. You can follow Jesus, you can follow Bob and Earl, Satan, or a minor demon - whatever you want. A premise is a very vague thing, just start with that assumption, and see what kind of stories you can come up with from there.

The Great Purge
I looked through most of the games here and composed a list of games that from my view should at the very least have the authors contacted so they can add in more details.
My basic guidelines were at least two gameplay screenshots (title screens not included). There's a nice few here which have downloads and are even good, but in those cases there should be an effort to get additional screenshots and game info added by the authors.

Horrible Game Endings
Popolocrois. The game has a lot of style and well thought out gameplay, but near the end it really bugged me.
Just before playing it I played Legend of Heros: A tear of vermillion, and at the ending of that game the secondary character is brought back to life by the main character. There was a lot of subtle hints given during the progress of the game that indicated such a thing could be possible and it made that act believable within the game world. It was still pushing it a bit much for me, but still, it had some creditability.
In Popolocrois however, the main character's mother dies near the end so he just cries a lot and out of nowhere he can bring her back. I mean, what the hell?

Let's Play! Final Fantasy IV Edition! ALSO A GENERAL FINAL FANTASY DISCUSSION TOPIC
Not over emphasizing Edward's spoony-ness would have left me rather disappointed.
However, it's not technically a mistranslation. Spoony would mean foolishly sentimental in this sense, however, since it's an obscure word it just sounds like engrish.

Warriors of the Sword
I don't have any more plans for working on this. It was intended to be a short game from the start, and I would rather work on other projects.
Game Inspirations?
For my current RPG, the main inspirations I can think of are:
-FFT: Battle system, general game structure (tactical RPG). Also played a smaller role in the inspiration for a more "realistic" setting.
-Ancient and medieval history/myths/stories inspired a lot of key plot aspects as well as myths in game.
-Panzer General and the Total War series (shogun and medieval in particular) for large scale battles, strategies, as well as a major plot aspect.
-Traditional folk songs for some key plot aspects.
-A midway scene from a stick figure flash animation about a Shakespearean play that I have long since forgotten the link to. It inspired the climatic end.
There's probably a lot more I'm forgetting about, but those are the ones I can think of for the overall story and structure.
