Hahaha, maybe in ten or fifteen years or something. Even I'm not insane enough to try to remake something I just finished XD And it would be called "Totally Normal Edition"
Still really looking forward to the remake of Hero's Realm :DDDDD

Huge huge thank yous for this review, Sgt! Your points here really speak to me, as I was thinking a lot of this myself lately, with regards to what works and what doesn't work as much.
I'm so glad you liked the battles and found you could "solve" them in any way you wanted. You are absolutely right about status effects, I went way overboard, leaned too heavily on them, and without an easy way to know what they all do at a glance, it became a bit cumbersome.
I also wish I'd done more with character development. I planned all the locations in advance and worked on them over time, and I just wish I had worked in more character growth and worked that into the location. It's definitely a big thing I want to try to work on in the future.
Thanks again for the spot-on critique and just overall super solid review here! It means a lot to me, and I want to thank you again for all the testing help and just generally being awesome and supportive, Sgt! I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to Soma Union and what I've seen of it already wows me! :DDDDDDDDD

Great review, I agree with every sentence. I would add one thing, unity put so much love and care in this game, it's a love letter to gammak and that's one of things, which make the game so enjoyable for me.

No, I agree. This is the best RPG Maker game I've ever played, and possibly the best game, period. It was a privilege to playtest it.

I absolutely second addict’s recommendation for Phileas’s Mirror to be on the list. I would possibly suggest Midnight Train as well, consdiering the final chapter released recently, though it was an episodic release throughout the last year and this one I think, so not sure how eligible it is.
I'm pretty sure that Midnight Train is eligible, as long as it's final part was completed this year, which I'm pretty certain it was. I need to play that one, I hear it's good.

Wow, I really love Breath of Fire sprites and these are really good! You've got such a good eye for sprites!
I'm gonna vote Momo or maybe BoF2 style Nina for next.
Out of curiosity, what's going on with the music note and the fishing bobber in Ryu's picture? Where the sprites are finely detailed with lighting and outlines, those two elements are kinda just... there. I can understand the fishing line having no outline but it looks very weird on those two elements.
