2.) Eh. Artistic temperament, and all that. I don't think that many people have created great works of art, sat back and thought man this is fucking great. A lot of people feel the same, myself included. I guess because practically any piece of art/media/whatever is based on its inspirations and obviously you will never create that which you seek to emulate! (assuming you don't want to plagarise which you probably shouldn't)
Anytime Brickroad posts and I see his avatar I realize I'll never be able to top the Aristocrab. :) In the future I picture that people will be like "Ok this is the Mona Lisa and it's pretty good but this Aristocrab over here is going to blow your mind."
Yeah... maybe not. I hate anything that I do after about 24 hours. At some point in my life, drawing became a game of "eliminate as many of my errors as I can" instead of "draw the best picture I can because I get a lot of attention and it's fun to do." It also happens when I crack open old spaghetti code I wrote. I've never completed a game, but I imagine it'd occur there as well.
It's probably a good thing really though. I think if you remained satisfied with everything you did, you'd never strive to improve and wind up stagnating with whatever your craft is. I mean look at Kanye West, he thinks he's absolutely amazing and is completely oblivious to the fact that most of his lyrics barely even have the complexity of a "See Spot Run" Kindergarten Lesson. =/
Keyboard Speed (WPM)
I got 71wpm first try then did it again and got 85wpm (no errors either time). Numbers tend to slow me down.
Turning Off VX Sound in XP
You can hit F1 when it's in windowed mode and uncheck the music/sound effects boxes - should do what you want.
Help with cms numbers
Can you just check the total value afterwards and if it's too high erase the picture? I don't know eventing code very well so don't know what is and isn't possible :/
Psuedo Example:
===
Keep all your code to calculate each digit even with the unwanted zeros but then afterwards check the total and erase the pictures you don't need.
===
if (total < 1000)
erase Picture(40) // Pic 40 being the digit 1 in 1000
if (total < 100)
erase Picture(39) // Pic 39 being the digit 1 in 100
if (total < 10)
erase Picture(38) // Pic 38 being the digit 1 in 10
something like that.

You know, these remind me a lot of some fanart for Metroid I saw floating around the 'net a few years back. Coincidence?
-shrug- Niklas Jansson is one of my bajillion influences, he draws Metroid 1 stuff quite a bit and is pretty popular on the ol' internets. Here's his metroid page: http://www.itchstudios.com/psg/m05/designdoc.htm I render similarly to him sometimes - Aristocrab and the goo's look like something he might do maybe. Other than that I wouldn't know, nothing is looking Metroidish to me that I posted. :-\

Outstanding fanart. And I agree with WIP, Robin Tanjewel looks especially great. Glad to know you'll probably do all the main characters, I can't wait to see how they'll turn out.
Oh, and... would Tristan Ilnoir count as a main character? ;)
And I think this very thread shows that Kinetic Cipher might be more famous and loved than some people think. Now if only that could convince you to actually finish KC(A)... :P
It seems really popular to me. :p Everyone seems to like it anyway, did it not get very many downloads or something?

Robin and Juniper are absolutely amazing. I love these, man. Are you going to do Isandru, Celunio or Ceasar?
MODIFY: I am curious. Did you play Kinetic Cipher #8 or Kinetic Cipher (Again) #4? Azrael isn't in KC(A) and Juniper is only introduced for the "I think you're seriously misinformed about ciphers!" scene, so...!
KCA#4 - I just opened it up in RM2k3 and used the Hero database and they're in there. I'm not really very familiar with the games development history at all so I didn't know if they were planned character that you never got since the game is incomplete or if they were cut.
I'll probably wind up doing them all eventually.

Hi ~
I've never posted here, but been lurking on and off for awhile now. I saw Kinetic Cipher get recommended a lot so gave it a shot. I was really impressed with it, particularly the desert dungeon. I mainly just wanted to draw the AristoCrab since I think it's funny, but went ahead and explored some other things. Drifted away on some things, but mostly if you've played it you can probably tell what everything is supposed to be (I hope). Anyway, since there seems to be quite a few fans of it here, I figured I'd go ahead and post it.
