LockeZ's Forum RPG
Seeing as Intersector is busy..
uses !Animals, hoping for something ferocious and man-eating. (and hopefully not a 1, causing it to eat me and my sack of meat or something equally unspeakable.)

LockeZ's Forum RPG
I toss a large slab of dried meat at Repoman C, sending my attack dog (whom I am now naming since I forgot to when I made my guy) Intersector after the meat.. and the Repoman!

I have a new goal in life.
This was made with world painting software.. didn't require very much effort.
It's also almost unplayable, it's so huge that even with max distance settings you can't see the meteor in the water from the edge of the shore.
All the brown up the cliff sides turns green eventually, too.
Scripting
Learning how to script can be difficult.. It's sort of like learning a language. As with any subject, some people have an affinity to learn it quicker than others. Everyone is capable of learning it, though.
The best way to learn is to understand the basics of programming (Classes, methods, variables, etc.) and logical flow (conditions and such.)
Then, start making some edits! Reposition windows, add some menu commands, do some small stuff like that. From there, you need to work upwards.
Programming Ruby: The Pragmatic Guide has a lot of information on the syntax and everything.

Prexus Ace - State Slip Damage
So, what's the relationship between these forums and forums.rpgmakerweb.com?
I don't see why this escalated to a What RM forum is better? discussion.
He simply wanted to know why we were separate forums, if we had any affiliations with one another, and what the differences were if they were any.
RMW (rpgmakerweb.com) is the official RPG Maker forum for the English releases of the software. It's forum is newer, but the members range from old and new. A large portion of the members at RMW are also members at RMN. They are not mutually exclusive.
RMN (rpgmaker.net) is a community focused on Hobbyist Game Making. It is not limited to RPG Maker, but due to its roots in the RPG Maker series and it's name, it is heavily inflated with RPG Maker related content. The emphasis at RMN is on producing product, displaying and promoting it, and garnering constructive feedback to improve the product. Many of the most active threads at RMN have been about game development topics; theory, implementation, and player response are the desired outcomes of these types of discussion.
That isn't to say RMW isn't a place where that kind of conversation is viable, or that there are any differences in their forums at all.
The primary difference, I think, is that RMN has a Game Page system and a front page people actually use, and RMW is primarily forum driven.

Return of the OneHour
author=Max McGeeauthor=CrazeFun fact: I literally invented the three-hour. Literally. The very first ones ever were mine. It was because I loved the idea of a one-hour, but the thought of participating in one gave me a panic attack; turned out that participating in a three-hour still gave me a panic attack, just a slightly smaller one.
I personally prefer three hour competitions, as they're more accessible and give you the tiniest bit of leeway in doing something odd with your time.
I love these sorts of things, though, so I'm interested.
Kentona's avatars continue to be win, I see.
I don't know if you can say you literally invented the 3-hour competitions.
During the initial 1hrs, there were occasions when the person coming up with the theme changed the time frame. I know I hosted a few 2hrs when I had a chance. Actually, one of mine the theme was "Late" and I got and accepted lots of submissions long after the 1hr. One as much as 3 days late.. it wasn't very good.
I like the One Hour competitions but I wouldn't be able to commit to them. I remember having a lot of fun with them though.
Prexus Ace - Character Shadows
For your character hero, you use a Call Script in an event, set up like so:
Call Script:
$game_player.shadow = true
For events and followers, it's slightly more complicated.
For events, it should be
Call Script:
$game_map.events[id].shadow = true
where id is the ID of the event
and for Followers it should be something along the lines of:
Call Script:
$game_player.followers[id].shadow = true

The sprite is from the Looseleaf Mack-styled character generator, but I put the pieces together myself.
