If you're using Ace there's a script that will tell you all the RTP files that you used in your game. That way you can cut out all the files you didn't use and not have to worry about an RTP-inclusive download.

Was asking about similar to this yesterday on rpgmakerweb.. can you please share the link for this script. I would love to get my filesize down.

Managed to track the script down:

The bank allows for deposits and withdrawals of gold. At this point in the development of the game, it doesn't serve much purpose other than to flesh out the world. However, during the development of the remainder of the game, I intend to add interest rates and possibly loans that attract a debit interest rate and require funds to be paid back on time, otherwise the bank will send bounty hunters after the player to collect the owed money plus interest and an additional collection fee.

Here the Rat enemy has spotted the player and will approach the player at a faster speed than it was moving prior to spotting the player. The player can run away or attempt to run past the enemy and if they manage to get past and beyond the enemy's line of sight, then the enemy will "forget" about the player.

World_map_2.jpg

Lag? What do you mean? It doesn't lag at all for me.

Anyway, the purpose of this map is much like the old style world-maps where you move between different areas or zones. The player just selects which direction they want to go in and the game automatically moves them along the path and then stops at the next checkpoint (red dot on the map above). The design decision was to get the player from one story location to another with minimal fuss but still showing distance between places. It is more of an interactive menu than a map, so that players get a sense of distance between locations but aren't forced to wander around or become involved in encounters that are far removed from the storyline.

You're allowed to have testers-only download and have some beta test it but the official release should be either May 4 or 5.

Ok.. and when my game profile is approved, then I upload the files to there and then on the 4th/5th, I use the submit button on top of this page to select the download I uploaded? Do I need to wait for the 4th/5th to upload that file?

Release Something Weekend

So I shouldn't upload my game until the 4th or 5th? or can I upload it before then to avoid server congestion? My game without RTP is 32MB and my game with RTP is 223MB..

I'm just trying to understand how I am supposed to do this....

Am I allowed to have someone beta-test the demo before the weekend? or is that considered as being released ahead of schedule?

I've created my game page now, it's pending approval.. but will wait to hear about the uploading of the demo files themselves.

[Poll] Judging whether to download a game? What do you look for?

This one depends on a lot.. it's hard to answer just one. For example, if it is a brand new release and not many downloads, then I would have to use some other method to decide etc

For me, if I can see a video of the gameplay (this will include graphics, music and all that from some of the other poll options), regardless of the other things.. then I will know if I want to bother with the download.

Release Something Weekend

Getting closer now.. I had a list of around 40 or so bugs, changes and additions that needed to be made.. that list is down to 3 cosmetic changes (adding pauses to dialog) and 1 functional change (adding more save crystal locations). Going to finish that off this evening and do another playthrough to make sure it all works and try to find any last minute bugs etc

Definitely going to have a demo ready.. around 1 to 1.5 hours of gameplay! yay! :)

Release Something Weekend

Having this deadline, along with GMD is really pushing me to get at least an hour worth of gameplay finished for a demo.
