Returning from RMVX Death
1093
It has been a very long time since I have been on this website or hosted any games on it. Last message I left was sometime back in 2011, so obviously I have been on a lengthy hiatus. I apologize, but I am aiming to begin fresh and new with nothing tying me down or back due to what I previously had so all my previous games have been deleted from the site.

I will leave nothing on this website, except for very small things - updates every great once in a blue moon, etc. - and make no promises to anyone.

Please refer to the game titled Eriscadia for any further information.

Hey... Umm... I don't know if I'm suppose to post anything here or not, but I thought I should point something out to you.
On the castle itself, I guess that's suppose to be a private patio or something for the king to walk out on? But, that is actually kind of the wrong tile type to use to me. It had me thinking that there was a suddenly large whole in the castle leading to the rgounds below. You might want to think about changing the color to something less... greyish I guess...? Just a friendly openion mind you. :)

Other then that, amazing job! I just don't see where you people get your skills at... I have done city after city in my games, and in the end, I end up tossing them, seeing as how I just can't get the cities down right and they end up looking horrible. :) Beautiful work folks! :)

Bringing Your World To Life

"I would encourage you to change an NPC's attitude towards the hero based on story progression as it makes the NPCs feel more characteristic and alive."

I am creating a game right now, however, I would love to implement what it is you just suggested up there... I have a Honor Points system I am working on at the moment, the more honor points you have, the better your chances are at getting people to speak with you.

My problem is, I don't really want to have to create a new page for every honor point you earn... Example given below:

Mr. Smith and you, the hero:
You have no Honor Points, so when you ask Mr. Smith a question, his response is:
"I don't trust you enough to answer that."

You have 25 Honor Points, and you try to ask Mr. Smith the same questoin, his response is:
"Hmm... I think I have heard of you from somewhere..."

You have 50 Honor Points, yet again, you ask Mr. Smith:
"Oh! It's you! Yes, I know the answer to your question!"

My problem is, the only way I can seem to get this to work is through using Variables and so forth... but, that still requires making multiple pages for the person. And if I want multiple comments from the NPC when you walk up to them, then I have to make seperate pages for each of those as well...

Can someone help me out on this matter please?

Thank you,
Kitten2021

The Importance of Planning

post=88045
Planning helps you outline what you are doing to begin with. In my planning I typically ask myself what the game is about and how it's going to be played.

I have to agree here... As it is, I had an idea for a game that I posted here on the site: http://rpgmaker.net/forums/topics/4386/ but have yet to go anywhere with it just because I am still getting everything together. While at work today I did peice together some more idea's on what the game will be like (yes, I know... I handle a very slow job, difficult, but slow). But the point is, I don't touch the game until I know for a fact what I am going to want to do and what I believe is actually within my reach of abilities (example shown here of what I mean: http://kitten2021.deviantart.com/art/My-RMVX-Title-Idea-1-131764665 ). If I know my game will actually make it and I believe that I will be able to get it finished, then I stop the planning and I just let the imagination go.

But you will never be able to really do that until you have actually thought about what your game is going to be; even the simplest thought about the game and what you want can and IS considered planning. :)
But that's just my personal oppenion and advise about the matter. :)

You are using the RM2k(3) engine or no? I can not see the names of people who post, so my apologies if that was you that answered...

Hmm... I think I saw a script for this... Give me a few minutes to search for it and I will post the link to it on this message as an EDIT. Oh, and what engine are you using please?

Need Help With Submission Please

Hi! I just selected the Submissions button at the top of the web page and filled everything out for my game, such as the information and description about it. I then clicked on the submit button and then it was gone! I am not familiar with how this works on this web site... Is it out to be accepted by the Admin's of the site or what exactly?
Secondly, I wanted to post pictures on the description thing so people could see what I was working on, I am in need of a title and I wanted to show it to people to allow them to see what it was that I had did and what it was that I needed done to it, btu there was no option to add a picture.
Can someone please assist me on this matter?

Thank you,

Game Idea - Would LOVE your kind inputs

Thank you, but do you think it is necessary, especially with all the images I have made available for everyone?

Game Idea - Would LOVE your kind inputs

Hi folks,
OK look, to cover my own butt, I have read all the rules and everything for the sight and know very well that I need to submit my game to upload any images, so there will be no images for my idea as of yet, since the game is not created yet. If anything is incorrectly in here, please let me know, I will correct it or move it, thanks. Now on with my idea! :)

I am an avid player of multiple game types, RPG's (obviously), shooters, and so forth... One thing I have always enjoyed playing and will continue to play are MMO-RPG's and stand-alone RPG's, examples being World of Warcraft and the .Hack series. I had an idea for an RPG game earlier and have put plenty of thought into this, but I would like some feedback from everyone first to see if this is even worth lifting off the ground (so's to speak).

My idea is simple: Make an RPG game that runs along the same idea of how the game .Hack worked... You are the hero playing game. The game you are playing is World of Warcraft (WoW from here on)... The general base of the game would be much like that of .Hack, in other words, you would be a normal player just in for fun and then things begin to go wrong and it all gets dumped into your unsuspecting lap. With the help of some on-line players, turn friends, you and your party must work together to save the WoW world. You will never see who the person outside of the game world is, because that is suppose to be you, you will have options in choosing what gets said and what gets done, but due to lack of ability to really type anything, you will have to go along with the base of the story, again, much like in the .Hack series.

I have included a couple of web links to show you previews of what exactly both game's are, just in case some people do not know what either of these games are. Thank you for your assistance, and any and all inputs are welcomed (kind one's only please, no bashing the idea's or anything, thank you).

Thank you for your time,

Please be aware I have read the rules and I did not see anything in there about posting to other web sights, just so long as it pertained to your game or idea. I was going to use www.youtube.com but did not see any rules that applied to it, so I decided against it, please let me know about the rules on that, thank you.

Thank you for your time,

EDIT:
Hmm... Interestingly enough, I listened to a Podcast for this last week and heard how multiple people had been attempting this very same thing... Some failed, other's I wouldn't know, haven't heard about them or played them. I was originally getting into this idea thinking I was the first to come up with this; I suppose there are many of you out there that are thinking the same thing, huh?

Well, I will state this now: This game has been placed on hold for a long while... Many more reasons applied then just the fact others tried and failed, more personal reasons also. I think I will test my capabilities and try creating a small tester game and see what the reviews are for that before I do anything with this major game.

Thanks to all of you that read this post, wish you all the best of luck and PLEASE listen to the Podcasts, they have amazing insite to how to build a game and what NOT to do. (Peeks at the peeps using the message speed system... ) ;P Just kidding ya! :)

Until next time folks, thanks!
