I've been to Lapland exactly one time and then I was in the forests living in a tent running around with an assault rifle and a radio. So when it comes to Lapland I basically know nothing. :)

I was thinking of going there around mid-March during my birthday. :P
My teacher took a ship from Helsinki to Estonia (Talinn) which took 3 hours. I think I'll probably skip on that.
Is the Sampo Icebreaker near Lapland? Do you have any other recommendations on places/things I can go/do there?

Well Helsinki is on the south coast, but I guess there are planes going from Helsinki to Lapland. But according to the weather services it's overcast in Rovaniemi (in Lapland) for about the rest of the week so it is unlikely there are any northern lights going on there right now at least.
