I'm Going To Be Among The RMN Dads
On the name note, my other half is really, really, really stuck on Harrison if it's a boy. I've already told her, if she goes with that, it's getting a whip and hat for it's first birthday, a Ford Focus when it's old enough to drive, and I will only respond to them in Chewbacca noises.
A Game About Making Games!
Sounds like you'd have to figure out exactly what you were going to do and how before you actually dived in headfirst. Something similar to what you're proposing would be cool, I just have no idea how you'd work the mechanics and practicalities of such a project.

:o Congratulations! When's the due date? (We just had our 12 week ultrasound last Friday for babby #2)
August 18th. If you guys have just had your 12 week too then our kids are due around the same time =D
So far I have been advised that my baby will communicate it's health, general mood and whether I'm doing everything properly in the colour, consistency, regularity, and smell of it's feces.
Final Fantasy VII Uncut
I like the idea, I just watched Star Wars Uncut, thank you very much for introducing it to me. I think there are ways we could make this work.
- Each person gets a cut-scene segment or map if they wind up with gameplay.
- So that the game can actually be played, people should be alotted variables and switches (say 5 variables and 5 switches each), as well as slots in the database for heroes and monsters.
- Let's not forget that you can change system graphics, face sets, character graphics, etc at any time. Outside of that, again, each person could have their own Cloud etc entered into the hero database (again, set slots aside)
- Making it cohesive will not be difficult, we will just have to change the party/ graphics at the start of each new map/ cutscene clip.
Sounds like a cool idea. Count me in if it goes ahead.

Going commercial?
-Do you make games for money?
No. Simple enough answer.
-Given the chance, would you work on commercial games?
Before I did my course in Games Art & Design I'd have said "Yes, I would jump at any opportunity afforded to me!" since completing that course some time ago, I now say "Not a chance in Hell!"
The way the industry currently operates and the salaries and hours involved? Not to mention how that three year course almost entirely killed off any and all enthusiasm I had for video games? Count me out.
-Do you aspire to make games for money one day?
See the above.
-Why would you NOT make games for money?
I do not have the time/ effort/ skill required to make a game worthy of charging people for with entirely original assets, made in a "legitimate" and "relevant" engine to be released on a similarly "legit" and "relevant" platform.
Also, when making games for money you're making the kind of thing that will sell, you're not saying anything personal.
I like dicking about in RM2k3 because it's fun, because it's personal, and because I make stuff primarily for me.

For the former GW/SWers
I don't know, GamingW always had an unfriendly stigma attached to it, but there really was some good stuff produced. The reason I pulled away from there wasn't because of anyone or anything in particular, I just generally visit less forums and have less time for indie game making these days.
