[RM2K3] [Battle] Shallow and Deep?

I've been messing around with the RM2k3 Battle System coming up with some cool effects; however, I noticed an option under the Specific Background in the Battle Processing event and that would be the Deep and Shallow commands.
I've looked around google and this website. I also did some testing to see the difference and I can't really notice anything different.

Can anyone tell me what the difference between the two settings are?

Hello everyone! I'm a 27 year old American spriter who loves RPGs. :D
...So I was browsing through the Steam store and saw the old RM2k3 available to purchase and when I thought of how much time I would spend tinkering away on the program I couldn't help but buy it!

So I figured why not get back into the community as well-- anyways glad to be back!
