Game Update - v1.05

How download? For some reason, sends me to Lavender main page.

My apologies, I forgot to set the correct download as the main download!

There is a tab called "Downloads" for the game, so if you're uncertain or require a download mirror due to download issues, please look there for alternative ways to get the game.

A software made for the purpose of just editing text messages shouldn't be able to screw up basic programming strings to cause weird bugs all over the place. Using this software was my worst decision I've ever made since I started using RPG Maker.

I mean, it'd be ideal if it didn't allow for that, but I haven't yet come across any other tool that does what DreaMaker does, let alone in a more waterproof way that's beginner-friendly. I'm not even sure if it's possible to make a tool that allows for easy mass translation in a singular text file like DreaMaker does without requiring code-based marking symbols to indicate where messages start, stop and which type they are, because without those markers it would be impossible to tell what kind of message you're trying to put back into the game and where it belongs.

There might be a way to make a different translation/text editing software for RPG Maker that's easier for beginners to use, but I'm not too sure how it would work and if it would be doable to make in a reasonable timespan by members of the RPG Maker community, because this game engine series is not exactly aimed at programmers in the first place.

I get your grievances, but I'm also not sure if/how those can be fixed in either DreaMaker or an alternative tool/software.

I can absolutely recommend anyone to not use this software. While re-inserting, lines from the Event code sometimes merge with other Event code in the weirdest way I've ever seen. For example, I had a Message that was merged together with a Choice Option, making a lot of my code completely messed up and causing a lot of weird bugs. This program seems to be very buggy at its current stage and I can only recommend to avoid it. The errors that will arise in your game while using this software are absolutely unpredictable.

Are you sure you didn't edit some of the characters that are needed to tell RPG Maker which commands start and end where? If you edit them it will screw up your event commands, but otherwise it should be just fine.

Question: does this tool work with projects updated to work in the most recent version of steam 2k3? If not, are there any stable alternatives?
My game needs some heavy text editing done and this tool would be perfect for that.

No, it doesn't. It was never updated to support the new and changed event commands, so even if it did work it would probably break your game.

Always display “Scroll Picture With Map“ Pictures at the correct coordinates

Cesarp and more people found a way to fix pictures and it's very easy.

Why not use the "Scroll Picture with Map" option in the Show Picture command instead?

srry to ask but should I do this before or after creating game disk?
(is creating game disk an actual necessary thing anyway?)

xoxo

Before creating the Game Disk!

Also, since you asked about it: I personally do not make Game Disks for my 2003 games, because they are basically just .exe archives that aren't really any different from .zip or .rar ones. I find them more cumbersome than ZIP archives, so I use those instead. (Game Disks do not encrypt your data like in RPG Maker XP, VX and VX Ace, so they're not even useful for encryption either.)

cool, it still works on legit 2k3 then :D

Yes, it does! That's the RPG Maker 2003 version I personally use.

this game is so beautiful and awesome, i love it... but i am stuck on the potion making puzzle because i can't figure what couple of ingredients are... u.u i feel dumb xD

Are you playing v1.2? There's a book in the potion brewing room with an ingredients list. (I'm reasonably sure you can keep your save files, but you might want to keep a back-up of earlier versions just in case!)

The only thing wrong with this image are those hideous square VX shadows along the walls.

Agreed. Perhaps get rid of these for the full game?

DreaMaker

I have two questions:

1) Does this program work for extracting text from Japanese games? Meaning it leaves the kanji, hiragana, katakana, etc. intact?

2) Does it work for RPG Maker 2000 games too?

Voices in rm2k3

But if the player speeds through the text of a scene they've seen before, won't that make many voice acting "sound effects" play at the same time? I really doubt that you can get around this problem, unless you put the voice acting in the music channel with a check for whether it has played through once or whether the player pressed the action key to proceed. (The downside to that would be obvious: you can't play music during voiced dialogues.)

Maybe it's possible in later RPG Maker versions that allow scripting, but in RPG Maker 2003 I doubt you can make it work flawlessly.

One Night

Sorry for the double comment, but there's another late-game bug that I've encountered a lot.

Often when I try to battle the boss in the Laboratory with the Plasma Cannon, I get the following error after running into the enemy while the Plasma Cannon is already ready:

Script 'Game_Character' line 744: SystemStackError Occured. stack level too deep

I've tried to fight this boss multiple times and sometimes it doesn't occur, but it does more often than not.
