I'm glad you enjoyed it! And thanks again for taking the time to help out with the beta testing. Hopefully some of the issues with the game being too easy early on will get ironed out, but I'm pleased to read that it seemed to scale to an appropriate level of difficulty later on.

They did! Baramon's got a totally new sprite and face, and Doren has been altered to fit with his new story.

I told our artist, Caladium, to cute it up in a way that a cheerful 16 year old girl might draw it, so rainbows and smiley face suns is what we ended up with. I thought it'd be cute if there were Lita's notes scribbled on it too, but the resolution is just too low for that.

Yep, that's exactly what happened. Really tough to merge two versions of Rm2k3 stuff, and we rushed that out for Release Something.
The "Story Mode" nuke is (likely) going to be a part of the game as an option for players that don't care to deal with combat but still want to experience the story. I am very happy you enjoyed the prologue, though! I'm really looking forward to what fans of the original feel about all the changes.

Well, I'll put it like this.
Having gone back and played through the original, I was actually kind of embarrassed by it. I started fixing this game up back in May. After working on it damn near full time since then, I'm proud of it now.
Obviously, my assessment of it is going to be a little biased, but regardless, it's a hell of a lot better than it was.

Unless they explicitly changed the terms of using their graphics (and I'm fairly certain they haven't), REFMAP resources are free to use in commercial projects, as well as modifying them.
Their old official site specifically said all you had to do was give them credit, and not sell the graphics themselves, and they were otherwise free to use.

She didn't, but she made the trailers, put together the screenshots, insisted I do this, talk me through everything, gave me a ton of advice, helped promote it and really dug into to get us going.
I wouldn't have even put it on Greenlight if it wasn't for her.
All of the amazing custom graphics (so far) were made by Caladium.
