Progress Report

Tech Demo 1 released!

It took a bit longer than I wanted but the first tech demo is finally done! It contains about 5-10 minutes of content, showcasing some key game mechanics (dungeon path choosing, combat, equipments and respite area). Though many parts are still barebones and the demo is still missing some major gameplay elements (death loop restart and character level up/skill tree), I think it's a pretty nice sample of how the game will play out!

As for the next tech demo, I'm planning to release it about a month from now, give or take one or two weeks. Tech Demo 2 is aimed to cover:

- A reconstructed visual-based battle instead of the current text-heavy version
- Some ailments and conditions
- A second battle against a different monster
- Longer and more varying dungeon area types
- Purchaseable equipments
- Level up and character interaction in respite

After tech demo 2, I think I'll make one more tech demo to finally cover the death loop system, and then finally after that I will be making one last stretch toward a super clean 30 min - 1 hour demo for the first layer of the Labyrinth.

Introducing the Characters

Hello!

I'm planning to upload a small very short tech demo/proof of concept for the game within the next two weeks but before that I want to introduce some parts of the game. Many story elements in the game is yet to be added in, so I wanna add some brief description and context to the characters especially. These snippets of art are also taken from the game. The full images will be part of the first short demo when I release it!

The Pioneer
Serving as the protagonist of the game, the Pioneer is the vanguard of the party and the one that paves the path forward. It would appear that the responsibility of navigation and leading the party in combat was bestowed upon the Pioneer, for reasons that are not obviously apparent. They wield a powerful state of the art steam-lance powered by high-pressured munition charges and a body clad in a mighty armor.
Remarie
A young cleric initiate of the Faith, Remarie provides crucial support in the form of protection and blessings granted to her by Divine Grace. In desperate moments Divine Light can also be used to shield the injured from harm, allowing for a hasty retreat after defeat. She has great respect for the Pioneer, one who has been exalted as a great hero and savior.
Caster
Belonging to a group known as exonerated heretics, Caster employs forgotten arts of a past era to bring destruction and havoc to the battlefield. Down in the abyss, Caster feels more at home than up upon the surface where they are treated as a criminal and outcast.
Vaynegloria
A veteran conscript of noble lineage, Lady Vaynegloria is a formidable force to be reckoned in battle. Her enhanced dexterity allows her to make use of both gun and blade, delivering a quick and decisive death to those that stand in her way. She is a woman of few words and intimidating presence.


That's it for now. There's still a lot I have to work on for the game before I could release the tech demo, the most important of which are the display for inventory and some scene images. There's still a lot to fix there both in terms of art and programming.
