Snotty and unnecessary. If people are going to lump me in with actual racists, and I bring up real life reasons why I'm not (I'm getting really tired of having to prove I'm not racist) you should be content with my answer rather than mocking it. And I really, really resent you saying the white heterosexual male thing. That's a strawman, and not every Republican is a "social conservative." This guy included. I live in ultra liberal Seattle and my wife is Asian so that'd be pretty silly, huh? I don't have a problem with people sticking up for someone who is being attacked. But it is being done proactively (pre-crime), with a broad brush (all x are y), and it pisses people off when you stereotype them based on their skin color, sex, and orientation.
I do that with ideology, yes. But not identity. Not things you cannot change.

No it's not. Some people on the left have tried to learn from this loss. Others, well, are doubling down on "everyone is racist and sexist, etc". The things people are sick of hearing. You don't change minds by shaming. All you do is move political opponents underground and silence them. This is a bipartisan issue, because the chasm between left and right continues to widen as neither side has a modicum of interest in even hearing the other. I'm telling you what the left can stop doing to mend that rift, and that's quit with the bigot labels every 2 nanoseconds. Especially for guys like me who would be considered right wing, but would also be called a "race traitor" or a "cuck" or a "degenerate" by the alt-right.

And the "problem" isn't just the purple-haired 300,000 genders types. It's every day leftists who pile on to the virtue signaling train. No one really listens to tiny fringe crazies, it's their masses of normies who subscribe to a lite version of the crazies' attitudes that really cause problems.

Those feelings were always there, guy. They've just been kept underground because of the social climate in the last few years. The climate where everyone is tripping over themselves to prove they're not a bigot, all the while saying very bigoted hypocritical things, and maintaining different standards for people based on their skin color, sex, etc. That's why I kept saying it's a bad idea to be those 3 letters that I'm not allowed to say only at RMN, because it just enflames a reaction that, now, is emboldened by the win of Trump.
This is not something I want. I hate white supremacists and extreme alt-righters just as much as anyone here. That's why I really REALLY wish leftists would stop shaming, shaming, shaming, every day, day in and day out, in all possible forms, because it creates a pendulum swing that you're seeing now. Don't fire the arrow you don't intend to be fired back at you.
This is very helpful advice for the left. If you argue that being Islamophobic creates terrorists, then you have to be ideologically consistent and argue that being extreme leftist creates extreme rightists. ...Unless you go back to having different standards for different people, amirite?
