Not home so I can't check, but does VX Ace allow damage over 9999 without the use of scripting? If not, what's a good script to exceed it?

While working on Blackmoon Prophecy II, a thought hit me. If the summon monsters are so damn powerful in Final Fantasy games, why don't THEY just all band together and save the world instead of sitting around doing fuck all for 30-40 hours?
