This game is going to be amazing. I'm going to put aside whatever else I'm playing at the time when this thing releases and just play this game start to finish. =D
Update & New Game Announcement

Lot of good choices, but xenogears is a nice pick. Langrisser would of been another interesting one as I think it's pretty obscure (I only played them myself due to the fan translations out there...(except 5 due to a lack of a finished translation)).
I think xenogears is definitely a game that has been needing a remake for awhile, especially due to disc 2. Many gamers hated them for making such a good game, and then making half of that good game into a giant cutscene. I understand budget cuts, but that part was a huge disappointment regardless. Curious to your own plans for that, but if you intend to keep that secret for now then that's your call. While I'm thinking about it, the game had a lot of hidden secrets/siduquests/minigames that should be a challenge. I remember the struggle of beating that last guy in the card based minigame (I think this was on the ship).
Anyways, I'm no artist unfortunately, but my offer still stands on testing the game once it's in that stage of development. I'm great for ideas as well if you decide to get creative and trying to make disc 2 based off the little we did get from that cutscene. It's been awhile since I played the game, and although I don't remember that cutscene from scratch I could always refresh my memory via youtube.
This post ended up way longer than I intended which goes to show just how interested I am in how this'll turn out. Good luck with this.
Thanks! =) I'll definitely keep you in mind for testing and creative feedback. As for Disc 2, I'm going to focus on gameplay and exploration rather than that one long cutscene. I'm not doing "storytime" for disc 2 I'll tell ya that much. LOL

where to go after Baron. Have mega bomb.
Two drawbacks to this game for me:
No map to show where to go next
No indication of next quest ie a quest file.
Once you have the bomb, you need to go to the Eblan Crater (Cid's workers tell you where to use it at during the dialogue with them). As for the map and quest file, I kept the game true to its SNES origins, and in the original game there was no map nor a quest file. FF IV was very much a game where the player has to pay ample attention and remember key dialogue pieces. I kept that theme going with this alternate take on it, maybe to a detriment I'll admit, but I was going for as much an authentic experience to the original as possible. =P

Where to go after Damcyan?
After Damcyan, you'll want to head for Mt. Hobbs located to the east across the shallows. Use the hovercraft to cross the shallows.

author=WCouillardauthor=SphereWouldn't really work (the way the battle scene displays stuff is so complicated for no reason). Plus, adding a battle event just for that, to what will probably be about 1,000+ enemy troop setups? Yeeeeeeesh.
I'm no scripter, and if this sounds stupid tell me, but would it be possible to event something like "ATB" in there, and only have it come up as needed for x amount of party members? Like say a Common Event, and you make an ATB graphic and put it in Pictures, and upon setting the Turn to 0 under Troop events it'll run this Common Event where it's set as a Conditional Branch that this ATB graphic will be displayed as a picture when a certain party member is in the party (and in #1, #2, #3, and #4 battle positions) and you'll be able to place the graphic wherever you like with the coordinates (and since it's a picture its Z layer will be set to display over the HUD window). And then you just make a Conditional Branch for each party member and whether they're in #1, #2, #3, or #4 battle position and the ATB picture is moved accordingly to those coordinates (and of course the pictures would be set as 1, 2, 3, etc. for each character).
I don't know if that made much sense, or if it's even remotely what you'd like to do, but yeah. =)
I am looking into a simple way to adjust what I need. I have an actual overlay ready to use (the HUD as it is now is one image, per party member, but the end result will likely be two or more). It might take a little rewrite on how things are displayed inside windows. Right now, priority is falling on battle and event stuff, less so the graphical stuff.
For instance, this battle... ooh boy. This is a hard one. Take all of the things in all of the Final Fantasy games that made Odin a challenge and combine them. It isn't shown here because of the animation, but this fight is on a timer, like the battle against him in FFV/FFVIII. If the party takes too long, they're dead.
However, instead of sitting around dropping the rare attack or Thundara like he does in FFIV, he fights back. Ferociously. His ability set combines a lot of his special attacks from FFXIII and FFXIV. Once his HP is depleted to 25%, he will stop attacking and instead start charging Shin Zantetsuken. If the player doesn't beat him by the time the ability is charged (or the timer runs out), it's back to the title screen for them.
Oh, and because of how our version of Odin is designed, magick does not work on him. It is meant to be a physical vs. physical fight.
P.S. I am looking for some video recording software that doesn't suck, as my copy of Camtasia has blown up in my face. I would really love to put up a video of this battle. If anyone knows of something free that doesn't suck (i.e. NOT fraps), please let me know!
Oh wow yeah, that's definitely insanit-ay for over a 1000 troops. Yeeesh...yeah no lol. Sorry, had no idea it was that many. XD As for a good free video recording software? How about OBS? It records full HD and 60fps if you desire. Very easy to setup and use.

It definitely shows. I haven't completed the story yet, but I've played through a significant portion and I like what you've done so far. Got any plans for the other ff games?
I'm attempting to get assets together for an alternate take on FF Tactics, and then after that, I may do a sequel to this game. It all depends on many factors if I'm able to do the FF Tactics project. Definitely count on a sequel to this game eventually. Other games I'll probably do an alternate take for will probably be Xenogears, Parasite Eve, and FF X. =D

author=semolous29author=SphereThat scene actually made me cry a little bit. As well as another scene not long after.author=MoonWolfVThank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for making a great Final Fantasy fan game. I liked the different plot.Even though I thought it was pretty horrible what happened to Edward.
Yeah I figured that scene would split peoples' thoughts about it. For me, I always questioned why Edward was "shielded from arrows" by Anna, and why he didn't do that for Anna since he loved her so much. For this scene, I decided to explore that, and really show Edward as I think he truly is, a cowardly sycophant who let the 'love of his life' die for him. Tellah responded as a furious parent. All he saw was Edward alive, his daughter dead, and Edward finally admitting he let her die to save himself. It's a tough scene, and it'll strike various people differently I'm sure.
Why you gotta do that to Palom, man?
Yeah I actually cried when I did that scene with Palom. Felt even more emotional the more I had to test that scene out too. I wanted it to come across as a powerful and pivotal scene to show that Rydia has gone over that edge.
