Darkest Dreams Remake Review

First of all, thank you very much for the review!!!! :)

I have to say I really am a Death Note fan, and the L and NEAR moments you pointed out could easily be taken as a reference... but I promise this was totally accidental LOL!!!!!

Apart from that I take note of the improvements I need to work on for future projects. As I said before, thanks for the sincerity. :)

Darkest Dreams Remake

Hi to all, I forgot to mention something important for those of you who want to play in the Browsers version of the game:

RPGMaker MV itself has some problems with opening the game in some browsers like Chrome because of security reasons. The only one I got it working was Firefox by doing the following:

In the browser address bar enter the following command:

about:config

Press button.

In the search field type:

security.fileuri.strict_origin_policy

Double click this item, it will change from "true" to "false".

Restart Firefox and it should work.

I've added this info in the Downloads section. I imagine that for other browsers there has to be something similar to make it work but I have to investigate a bit more. I'll tell you if I can fix it.

Darkest Dreams Remake

Well, I just finished uploading version 1.0. Enjoy!!! :)

Edit: I published the game in three platforms: Windows, Mac and Linux. I have tried everything on Windows and it is the main download, so anyone who tries the Mac and Linux versions please let me know if everything works ok. ;)

Have you been able to fix the few loopholes? For people like me who never played the original game, coming to the end of the game just to have to restart because something had to be done prior to entering the big tree room, then having to restart the game can be very discouraging. This loophole could have easily been prevented using a control switch or variable.
Sincerely

Hi there, I am about to release version 1.1 of the game with some fixes (didn't do it with the switch thing in your case but another way, you will see) and some new additions. Stay tuned.

I have never played the classic in its original form (and I'm not at all sure my PC can run anything that old). Is this a good introduction to Alone In The Dark? (The only entries in the franchise I've played were the most recent ones, which aren't that recent and were critically panned. I think I also might have seen some of the (terrible goes without saying) Uwe Boll movie.)

Well, all I can tell you is that Uwe Boll did enough destroying the father of the survival horror genre with that... "movie". I am trying to honor it with this remake, making it as close as I can to the original. You are very welcome to give it a try if you like. By the way, version 1.1 is about to release. ;)

Alone in the Dark Review

First of all thank you very much for the review, Martimus. I do invite you to go on with the game. Encounters that are difficult can be kited if you are skillful enough. Puzzles are more criptic, although there really are hints all over the place.

Mentioning GreisDomain, there is a hint to the cabinet and chest actions, but it will be much more obvious when in update 1.1 you will be able to control the other character chooseable in the original apart from Edward Carnby (Emily Hartwood). Her intro is different and has something more to say...

Stuck at the library. Im trying to figure out which bookshelf i need to put the fake book in to in order to unlock the door. The Vagabond definitely makes it difficult as well.
a possible suggestion would be to make hidden items and points of interest more noticeable (like in resident evil, by adding a small flashing light etc.)

Well, there IS something noticeable, maybe you just didnt see it hehehe...

To acornz123:

Ok, so checking the list of items in the picture I can say you don't have the one required to trigger the mechanism in the library. You CAN do something about the creature there, but what you need lies beyond that mechanism.

Maybe I can give a hint: you do have the bow and some arrows. There is a place you can use them which is VERY VERY close to the library room.

Also, there is another record for the dance hall apart from the two you already have somewhere... and the key to finding it lies getting past the library.

As for the monster in the basement you really can't do anything about it right now, just find another way.

I take note on fixing the double Old Indian Cover bug for the next update by the way. If there is something else you find please make me know.

Finally, yes, there is an ending, of course. As I said in the previous post this is a full version.
