ROWAN'S PROFILE
Rowan
131
I'm just a guy interested in making an RPG. I started using RPG Maker way back in RM2k days. My first game was wiped out when my old CPU crashed so yeah.. I decided to make a new one and have been working on it ever since. I mostly enjoy lurking around the RMN forums but I've decided to become more active in the community. I can be a smart-ass at times, but I'm generally an easy going friendly dude.
P.S: Oh yeah, I'm gay (seriously)

Video thread!
Riki's girlfriend fall of doom was the best part. Heck, the entire movie was the "best part". So hilarious.

Hey peoples, what are your thoughts on competitive pokemon battling? Have anyone tried it yet? I'm kinda interested.
Games and Why You Play Them
post=132981post=132980What? That is, like, a game of Tetris. We're talking 'bout RPGs and adventure games, primarily. These games can take hours. And I am too busy spending those hours playing Borderlands to do anything else!
How hard is it to find 15-20mins or so to play through someones game?
You can always save the game and play later. I admit though, RPGs nowadays are a little restrictive on when you can save.
Games and Why You Play Them
post=132977post=132966Also I want to FILTER THIS OUT for a second and mention that 'I do not have time' is sometimes a legit reason. Life goes up and down and sometimes people may find themselves super busy for long periods at a time. Even if they can find time for leisure (and people always do, as going without SOME sort of leisure leads to insanity), WHAT they make time for has certain levels of priority. Like, if I'm busy with exams, a job, and an internship, and I only have time for one 'fun' thing to do, and I have to pick between playing an RM game (or any video game) and say...hanging out with my brother on leave from the Air Force or seeing a concert with my girlfriend, well, which one of those three activities is going to be on the bottom of the ladder? (answer; playing video games)
As for my bit about the chariot - it is becase "I don't have the time" is the worst excuse ever. You can apply it to anything. It is merely a coded message implying that the person is not willing to make time. Because, you know, everyone makes time for things they enjoy.
Just be honest and say you don't care. It's not like anyone will be surprised.
At least for me. There HAVE been periods of time where I AM too busy, and when I DO make time for fun, it's some OTHER fun that's higher on the list than playing amateur games, even if I like doing that a lot.
I mean I see the general point you're trying to make and I agree, but I wanted to point out that caveat.

Personally I hate everyone
I love you to. xoxoxo
Creativity: Thinking about "Experience/Leveling Systems"
I see a common trend nowadays where some RPGs apply their EXP/leveling mechanics to some kind of real life game. Like FFX's sphere grid. (Kinda..)
IDK, maybe someone might think of a "Connect Four" or "Jenga" system next. lol.

Games and Why You Play Them
post=132968post=132966I think it's less of that and more of "I play games by people I like and respect BY THE WAY THAT'S NEXT TO NONE OF YOU"post=132957I don't see how, 1) playing games by people I respect or 2) expecing them to be competent/complete, or at least MARGINALLY interesting is being an asshole. It is certainly better than somebody saying "I don't play anything ever because everything (other than my game/in 2k3, XP, VX/that is over or under some arbitrary amount of megabytes in size) sucks."
And people call me an asshole.
Even with these preconditions I play far more games than most people here.

I mean you can't be surprised for someone to take ill with that comment. I mean on behalf of everyone else who may be wondering; what's wrong with us exactly? Especially since the majority active community around here is pretty intelligent, competent, and friendly.
I for one, commends his honesty. Straight up saying "I'm not interested in your game cause I don't like you/cause it looks bad" etc.. is better then fabricating a detailed excuse.
