NEOK'S PROFILE

I'll tell you what, a youngster with a tool in both hands has no hands left to do drugs. ~Hank Hill, 1999

It used to be on my dA. At some point, I got rid of all my 2k3 work, including Alter AILA stuff. Then at some other point, I also deleted everything on my dA. I'd be surprised if anyone even has it anymore.

As a jobless college student, money is tight, but I'm glad to see you interested in going commercial nonetheless.

Hey no problem, just hit me up whenever I get something out there and I'll toss you a link (as long as it's my own game (not a joint project), I'm not under contract, etc.). I'm not going to say I don't care about making money, but if you're generally cool (and you definitely are), I won't ask you to skip meals just to play my stuff.

Aw, so is AAV done for good? Or will we be seeing the basic story ideas in some other form?

Yeah, probably. It's a little too unfocused I think, with plot points left right and center, and if I remember correctly, a pretty unsatisfactory conclusion. I'll just keep the lessons in mind when I work on my next projects.

I’m glad that you’re getting back into the game making scene again; we all really missed you ‘round here - especially me. :)

Thanks man :). Gonna work hard to make up for lost time.

I’m also curious, did your Alter A.I.L.A comic ever take off that you decided to do before your left??? Me wants to know.

I don't think I did more than 10 pages before I dropped it like a sack of old potatoes. It just wasn't the same.

I was really daunted with having to learn scripting too (don't know any previous programming languages, so starting from scratch), but it's not so bad now, and the community support is massive. Once you get a handle of things, it really opens up a world of possibilities that could only be dreamed of in 2k3.

Well if you're ever feeling up for learning it, these two resources have been really helping me out so far.

Ah okay, that's good. It really helps to hear about other dev's that've made the transition and are doing well.

So I assume you'll be making a completely new game or remaking Variant in Ace?

New game most likely. Variant's got a little too much going on, so if anything, I'd probably break it into pieces and focus on individual plotlines... probably not as AAV though, since I don't want people to have to play previous works to get into my new stuff (especially considering it's on 2k3.)

Kugar:"Welcome back. It has been two years since we last spoke."

Grey:"Disappears for two years, comes back and then claims he has to go again. Go figures."

Glad to have you back, sir! As you can see, I have very fond memories of Alter Aila!

Haha, well I'm back from vacation now. Currently stewing up something with Ace. God, I love this program. I hope no one ever sees my coding/scripting. It's literally held together with vapid dreams and duct tape.

Alter A.I.L.A.! I knew I remembered your name from somewhere.

Idk if you remember a guy named "Lennon" but I used to be that guy. I don't like remembering that.

Hey, I remember good things about Lennon! At least I remember really cool Earthbound-y maps and graphics. I don't know if that was someone else.

An Oathguard Named Desire

When a game I was working on wasn't working out, I tried turning it into a comic, and lost steam after like 10 pages. Then I thought about making it a novel. Even worse. The reason is because when I envisioned it, it was as a game. Trying to move it to other mediums made it vastly different from what I'd envisioned, and that killed my motivation to work on it.

Also, a plot that works for fantasy games with a lot of anime-inspired fighting tends not to work for novels without major revisions, and vice versa, at least that's what I've found to be the case.

Not saying this'll happen to you. Just food for thought.

Welcome back Neok! And it's the right time to come back! Lots of exciting games to play and look forward to :p

What's good out right now? Haven't kept up with the scene at all.

Btw, you're prohibited from saying Seraphic Blue.
