yeah they improved tournament mode a lot from brawl but it's still a little rigid. Oh well it was a free update and it does the job I guess. I really struggled with deciding whether or not to do set/unlimited numbers of matches, if I did unlimited people would complain that players with more free time had an advantage so I decided to set matches to an amount where everyone can participate.

Or maybe come up with another system other than bracket. Like create a game that draws random opponents, like how kentona picks winners for give aways. Or some other kind of new system like...well I dunno, my imagination isn't working well right now.

Honestly if we used that system I wouldn't even use tourney mode, it's not made for that kind of stuff and you'd be better off hosting a room in With Friends. Make a bracket in Challonge, instead of seeding you could randomly assign numbers 1-16 for participants. If you're not sure about people following rules, you could have them send you a replay of the match (i doubt that'd be a problem here though). I'm don't have time to host another tourney now that school's started, but at least we know that RMN Smash tourneys are doable

if I DID have time, I would probably host a weekly tourney for one hour Wednesdays 10-11 PM ET and have unlimited matches. Most people are available that time and it'd be more fun doing it once a week than over the course of an entire month. it could be themed too (pokemon theme, gust bellows set to high, etc)
