MACSHIFT'S PROFILE

Hello! I'm Mac and I'm new to game-making.

I have a lot of big ideas for games that I'm excited about, but right now I'm focusing on learning the skills needed to do them justice.

To that end, I've been making small practice games and participating in RMN events as I'm able... and I've already made three games!

Stay tuned to see what other weird stuff I come up with.

14th RMN Birthday

Got it done just in time! It's my first completed RPG Maker game, so there was a lot of time spent learning, but I hope it's entertaining, and not too difficult!

(I followed a few of the prompts, but I'll leave it to players to discover which ones, so that I don't spoil anything.)

14th RMN Birthday

I have a fever, and the only prescription... is more cake!

We'll see what I can whip up.

Spider Trek

I'm running Windows 7 myself, so I wonder how that might affect the build. I'm not very tech savvy, but I'm going to look into this. I want to provide as many versions of the download as I can, especially once the game is finalized.

Thanks for taking an interest!

Overall I'm pretty happy with this event. I got to use a new engine and try new things. I hope everyone had the same positive experience I did and can share their positive experience on this thread.

I'm new to gamedev and struggle with perfectionism/indecision, but I got some advice and encouragement from some experienced forum members when I first joined this site. (Here's the thread.)

I'm definitely glad that I followed their advice and committed to joining the next event that came along! Creating my first game helped me build my confidence and belief that I can follow through.

So bummed to hear this. Would you mind telling me what your OS is and what error message you got?

Mapdaptation

I'm going to attempt this. I seriously need more practice making maps, but I've been avoiding it.

I've got some small tidbits of notes for what games I've played from this event so far.

*Edit: I've re-arraigned the post to have the Floppy Disk games at the beginning for the sake of convenience.

It occurred to me that people might think my game title is a reference to Star Trek. (It was the working title, but I'm awful with naming things so I drew a blank when it came time to change it at the very end. Sorry, Star Trek fans!)

Thank you for playing my game and sharing your thoughts!

You're a spider, get out of the house without getting squished, eaten, put in a jar or a multitude of other bad ends. I liked the way the bad ends were explained with spider facts where not obvious. My only criticism would be there's no obvious way to quit the game from full screen without killing the process.

I was kicking myself when I realized it was kinda tricky to end the game! I'll put in a quit button or something when I upload it to the game page that's currently pending.

I'm glad you liked it despite the issue, and I appreciate your feedback!

Not bad! I am so grateful that when you die, you just go back to the previous page. Kind of like Choose Your Own Adventure!

Yes, I didn't want to punish the player for their choices, especially since some of the deaths were pretty unforeseeable. (That and I like "achieving" all deaths in games. I'm also hoping to add art for each of them as a bonus in the finished version.)

Thank you for playing, and providing feedback!

My text-based game is ready to play! Help a spider escape a house in the mid-1990s. Should be at least 10 mins of content, especially if you go for all 12 unique deaths and 3 (pretty similar) happy endings.

Edit: Updated the game to not kick you out after each ending. (Hit "The End" to start over, do Ctrl-Q to quit!)

That's okay, several years ago I was in an event and forgot to submit my final version through the event page at the end.

Yes I'm definitely worried I'll do something wrong!
