LOCKEZ'S PROFILE

LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

[MAFIA] The Resistance: Avalon Mafia - GAME ON

...Say what? The "nobody died last night" nightkill result was announced in the thread at the beginning of day 2. Psy didn't mention Lancelot on day 1. You're not making any sense.

What are you thinking about right now?

Yeah, except WIP designed the logo an entire five years before that. "RMNv4" means it was the fourth version of the RMN site design. Geodude didn't do the first three (unless he did).

[MAFIA] The Resistance: Avalon Mafia - GAME ON

I have to assume the scum team already knows who Lancelot is, since nobody died last night. Like, it's theoretically possible that they didn't kill anyone on purpose and are trying to trick us, but that would be hella stupid. The theoretical purpose of that ploy would be for one of them to pretend to be Lancelot, and thus get "confirmed" as town. But if that's their plan, then it has a high chance of backfiring if the real Lancelot exists and counterclaims. And it also costs them an entire day.

Being hella stupid and unlikely doesn't guarantee they didn't do it, though. So although I agree it's beneficial for Lancelot to claim, we should probably only consider them 90% confirmed town instead of 100% confirmed town. Merlin at least will know if they're lying, so if we get tricked, not all is lost.

One, Lancelot claiming themselves is kind of pointless, because we have no way to trust that - we DO have a different way to trust it, though. And that's surviving kills.
If PA was Lancelot, ok, a huge if, but if he was, then lynching him - while a bad idea and wasted lynch - would have revealed him to be a townie to trust.
Unless I'm misunderstanding you, I think you're misunderstanding the Lancelot role. He is immune to being "nightkilled" but that is a term used only to refer to scum kills. He isn't immune to being lynched to death.

Yeah this revisionist history isn't settling well with me.

Why in the world do you have "a strong feeling that there is a scum in the first group"? Isn't it literally just three random people that PlatinumAshes picked by rolling dice? We don't even know what the results of the mission are yet. Am I missing something here?

[MAFIA] The Resistance: Avalon Mafia - GAME ON

The fake Merlin claim by PlatinumAshes honestly bothers me a lot too, just as the kind of thing scum might do just in case people believe it. If people assume it's a fake claim or a joke then no harm done, but there's always a chance people will think it's real, or that the real Merlin or Percival will counterclaim.

The self-vote that went along with it calms me down, because that made it super-obviously a joke that nobody could possibly fall for - except multiple people still did. I think that maybe the only reason I find it suspicious is because other people were such numpties about it.

But if it were supposed to obviously be a joke then why was your later explanation that you wanted to "see reactions to it?" Like... the only reactions that would matter would be Merlin and Percival outing themselves. No member of scum is going to react by trying to get you lynched; it's too suspicious and they have a night kill for that. What frickin' "reactions" did you expect exactly, other than town suicide?

A tiny piece of me also wonders if the drama was a planned setup by Demonlord5000 and PlatinumAshes to make people take the fake claim seriously, while simultaneously having the self-vote as a thing Plat could point to and say "no I was obviously joking." This is a very silly conspiracy theory though, mostly because it's such a bad plan.

If I were to pick a single suspect today it'd be Muffle, going by her posts in this game so far. As a rule I'm always cautious of someone who suggests no lynch on Day 1, and coupled with her apparently not being able to form any opinions of her own today it's not looking great.
Muffle being non-confrontational just sounds like Muffle to me, lol. But your reasoning still makes sense, and it's not as if we're likely to get a strong lynch target on day 1, so I don't actually have a problem with the Muffle vote either.

Psy's analysis of Ozzy also makes a ton of sense now that he has explained it.

[MAFIA] The Resistance: Avalon Mafia - GAME ON

OK, I'm gonna talk about mission strategy.

I think the ideal mission makeup, for now, consists of one person who we think is very likely or confirmed to be town, and two unknowns. That way, if the mission fails, we have a 50/50 shot at knowing who is scum. If we send two confirmed town with one questionable person, it'll succeed every time, but I think that if we have already confirmed one of the three people then success is actually less useful to town than failure at this stage in the game. Because knowing that one of two people is scum is far more powerful than knowing that one of eleven people isn't Mordred (who might not even exist), and also probably more powerful than preventing scum from narrowing down Merlin by one person (especially since that person might die later anyway).

Late in the game when there are fewer total players, I think that will change, and the knowledge about Mordred and Merlin will be more powerful, just due to the numbers. So starting around day three or so, and definitely from day four onward, IMO we should start trying our hardest to send people who will succeed on missions.

Pianotm seems like the towniest person in the game so far, to me. He was the first one to create a list of reads. He has been discussing strategies to use on the missions. And I think most tellingly, he warned against voting for AtiyaTheSeeker when InfectionFiles voted for her, because she was likely going to be modkilled. That warning is something scum wouldn't normally do, because wasting a lynch is beneficial to them, but it's also something that's subtle enough that I don't think scum would do it just to look more like town. I mean, it's very likely that nobody would even think about it that way.

Actually - "99% sure that Mordred exists" and thinking "Merlin is a powerful threat" are both opinions 100% in line with a scared scum mindset.

#lynch Ozzy

Ozzy jumped in on that, but before that, it was mostly demonlord who was insisting that Mordred must exist. Demonlord was the first one to do it at least, from what I see (on page 5).

Also demonlord was the one going on about cancelling the game for no reason, which doesn't seem like deliberate mind games, it just seems like him being a thoughtless asshole. But if it was deliberate mind games, then the goal was probably to make everyone else pay less attention and post less. Which is beneficial for scum. It's much harder to find scum when nobody is talking.

Also something about the way he was writing in some of his posts just rubbed me the wrong way and I can't explain why. So at this point I want to #lynch demonlord5000.
