Hey, brand new here and just found this site, so please forgive me if I ask a question that's really obvious or answered elsewhere or something. Anyway, I see in the description that you are a male high school student. I was just wondering, with the level of customization this game has if there's an option to play as a female student for lesbian routes? I know it's an old game, but since comments have been responded to as recently as December last year I'm hopeful someone will answer anyway. Thanks ahead of time!

Sorry, but you cannot play as a female PC in this game. There's plenty of "boy pursues girl" routes, most of which are really enjoyable, but you cannot change the gender of the playing character.

But - if I am forgiven for the self advertising - there is something like a spin-off that I've written where you play the role of a female high school student who's attending the same school.

It's not really finished yet, but there's several completed routes for you to try.
(At the time of this post I consider Yuki, Misa and Chinatsu as "finished routes").

In case anyone is interested: this would have been my entry for the event.

I just hope you're not the standard because Nadeshiko is nearly 14 thousand lines long ;-;
That's a complement, Nadeshiko is great
Thank you. ;) I really enjoyed writing it.

I guess the best answer I can give you is that a story should be as long as it has to be. If you, as the writer, feel that there's more you should tell about your characters, than you should write more. If it's starts to get boring - you should probably stop ...

And maybe sometimes it's best to stop just a few lines early. Leave some things unexplained, some part of the story untold ... let the readers try to figure out some bits for themselves.

I don't think there's a fixed sweet spot that's satisfying to you as well as to your audience.

Hey what is up guys, it's been a couple minutes

How many separate events should a character's story have?

Also, how long can any single event be before it's too long to enjoy?

Good questions, these.

I thought about that several times over; but I'm still not sure to have an answer.

Okay then, lemme just "show-off" bits of my NEP custom contents here. So I can relief some of this pent-up inside me.

You seemed to be spending a real lot of time on developing all those characters.

It would be a shame if you decided to not share your work just because it doesn't quite meet up with your own view of perfection.

This does look fine, but I will say that there's a male tachie palette available now that better fits the art style of the game and doesn't conflict so heavily with the art format used for the girls' tachies.

For those interested, here's a little program I wrote for helping in using these tachie templates (both the male and the female ones).

There's no way to skip City or Phone phase. Specifing a new PLACE in a JUMPed to STORY will just change the Background.

In other words: your technique, Marrend, would work for an event where you'd send Kazuhiko home to fetch something and then return to school or whereever but not for changing the daily schedule.

(And as far as I know there's no CONTINUE for Bedroom stories anyway. ... Plus something in the back of my mind tells me there was a problem regarding using CONTINUE in a jumped to story.)

Due to circumstance beyond my control - as well as biting off a bit more than I could chew - won't be able to finish my game. I might have enough for a demo by the end of the deadline. Or maybe rather the demo of a demo?

That being said, I really like this type of event.

Just don't ask me which of these girls is "Shika".

Shika is the Blonde, just for the record ;)

And about the similar name & model stuff. I'm the type of guy who lose confidence in my creations when I see someone else already took the similar ideas (cause I'm afraid my creation will either be viewed as copying them or being less impactful as the similar idea already appeared before mine). But again, it's just my thing.

As for other people doing something similar to your own ideas ... this is a dating sim. So it's virtually impossible to be unique in every single aspect of your stories. And there's only so many different hair-colors or names or character traits to use.

So a bit similarity is to be expected - if not unavoidable.

If you think your work might be interesting or entertaining to at least some people - in my view that should be enough reason for you to publish it.

So let me get this straight ... to escape you first have to die?
Fairly sure it means that if one of your party members dies then they're gone for good during that battle.

Porbably. But I have no idea why I'd would want to do that ... unless to protect them from being turned into Zombies or something.
