Adon says something smart for a change. It's true: XP has far better mapping capabilities, since it has three layers and infinite tiles. VX is a little easier to use overall, has some features built in that you have to add via scripts in XP, and has somewhat simpler tools for scripting compared to XP.

But like I've said in some of the other VX vs. XP topics, none of that really matters. The most important difference between the two programs, by far, is what scripts other people have already written for each of them. You need to figure out what features your game will need, and find out whether scripts that offer those features are available in XP, or VX, or both. Even if you are capable of scripting things yourself, this will save you far more headache than any other difference between the two programs.
