I don't know how well it will stand out against the floor tiles you're using but this is what I used in GB&P.

- This is really interesting, you used the lyrics from "There's A Girl In The Corner" to make a sort of story in a non-narrative game.
- Liked the look of the game and the background sounds.
- The title screen immediately prepares us for the kind of game we're about to play, a different kind of game! :D
- Really Nice concept.
- Was there a cameo from RMN that I didn't notice? I didn't see any at all...
- Liked the blue-ish tone of the game.
- Enjoyed playing this short puzzle game.

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. I was surprised how well the lyrics worked as a narrative, I only used them because it was what I happened to be listening to at the time.
Like I said earlier the whole game serves as some sort of abstract self insert inspired by David Hume's writings on the concept of self.

This one is definitely strange artsy game. There is many maps and repetition and it's sad and bitter. Puzzles aren't any difficult, they work as pace keepers. The game is a mixture of a personal text and depersonalized graphics. It offers lotsa content for such a short time frame.

Yeah, I noticed the contrast between the message of the lyrics and the graphical content quite early on. I wasn't something I planned but I liked it and ran with it anyway. I think the puzzles could be a bit more challenging but they aren't really my strong suit :\

Artistic, minimal. I liked how the puzzle structures represented the lyrics of the song. The tiles are beautiful, but you know that. ;0 Much love!

Thanksssssssssss, can't take credit for the tiles. They're by a fantastic artist called Buch over on OpenGameArt.

-I don't quite understand why you reset the player's position after completing a puzzle.
-Who is this woman these messages keep talking about?
-Huh. Now that I see this text-scroll, I'm beginning to suspect that the messages are actually lyrics to some song.
-Given the gameplay and content of this game, I sense a distinct influence from CashmereCat and Pizza from this entry. Given what I saw in CashmereCat's entry, maybe that isn't such a bad comparison to make.
-I might have to look your games up sometime to see if any others are like this.

The maps repeat because it's a reflection of the relationship in the song's lyrics.
A lost love, I think most people have experienced that.
Bingo!
I can kinda get Cash because of Acc Mu but why Pizza? Cashy's entry is slanderours! :@
Nothing like this but most of my projects have some dumb overarching concept or thematic element.

+ Fabulous entry overall. I'm not the kind of guy who gets these "art games," but I still found it to be a solid puzzle game.
- Why do you have no text at all at the title screen? Even a "press any key to continue" would suffice.

"Art game" makes it sound pretentious, just call it dumb :)
I didn't like how it was aligned so I removed it for the time being and grew to like the minimalism of it.

A fun and different little puzzle game. I got stuck halfway through though when I pushed a crate the wrong way. Didn't look like there was a reset button sadly. Liked the look and feel of the game though.

Woops, I didn't think it was possible to get stuck.

Pretty interesting aesthetic. It also got me listening to The Twilight Sad.

Everybody should listen to The Twilight Sad.

Thanks for playing everybody, sorry if I missed anyone.

Post Apoc is still WIP but here's my prison, tiles are by an artist called Calciumtrice. I'll be using them as a base/reference for my IGMC entry.

ED - I wouldn't say it looks recognisable as a prison. I'd include more cells and maybe some prison bars to really drive home the point. Your grass edit still has green in it, I'd replace it with the dark purple.

I hope Cap_H doesn't mind but I think it's time for a *bonus round*.

Theme is inspired by the recent success of Mad Max: Fury Road and the announcement of Fallout 4, so I wanna see eveyone's version of a

Also, you've played 30 years worth of RPGs and thus have the benefit of knowing which thing is which. So has Magi, which as he said is why he was able to instinctively figure it out also. Your players though haven't necessarily. It's safe to assume this certainly isn't their first video game, since it's an indie game with retro graphics. But it might very easily only be the second dungeon-exploring action RPG they've ever played. And maybe the first one didn't have that type of HUD or didn't have mana.
How long do you think it took me to learn that Mario's Face x 3 was the number of lives I had. People aren't dumb and they don't need every little thing explained to them. Games are interactive, you learn what everything is through contextual clues in the gameplay.

And yeah, the screens cropped down.

Better? I think the health bar might get a little lost so I might try another colour for the border.

That said, I wouldn't re-use tileset assets to make your hud either. Make it stand out. Also it would be good to provide some indication of what functions those red and blue bars represent. As an RPG player since 1994 I instinctively associate red with health and blue with magic. What if that's not your intention? What if the person is color blind? What if your player is a baby? Are you really going to turn off a baby from video games forever???

All the menu designs will be in that style, it will look fine in context.
But that is my intention? That's why I used established colours for the bars, colours people make instinctive associations with. I think after 30+ years health bars are pretty well established within rpgs now, so I don't think I need a giant arrow and flashing text to explain that the health bar is in fact the health bar. Dark Souls and Skyrim seem to be doing quite well for themselves.
Do you raise the colour blind point with everybody? It seems a weird thing to single me out on.
What?

is the hud location ok?

No cameos, just an abstract self insert.

Those tiles are by an artist call Buch over on OpenGameArt, I used another set by them for my 8hr thing.

And my hideout I guess, didn't really know what to do for this one :\
