BEN_RANDOM'S PROFILE

1019
I'm Ben_Random. I've been around since 2008 but I didn't really get active here since Super RMN Bros. 2. That, an unfinished game, and a couple of contests sums up what I've done with game making on this site. I find that my main purpose here is writing. I have a few tutorials out there, as well as some reviews on Mario fan games such as RMN Bros. or Mario V.S. the Moon Base.
Now with the internet the way it is these days, you can probably use just this information to stalk me.

You have said that.
Sorry. I didn't realize that the text I applied to the image would also appear next to the picture. Woops.
HELP!
Your title is very specific. I admire how it clearly states your issue in a brief precise manner so that when RMNers are floating around the forums they will know exactly what you'll need help with.

Yeah the Internet loves when people get angry, frustrated, or upset enough to go on a rant. Its a lot more fun to tear something down and point out its flaws. It makes for user interactivity.
Exactly.
Lag Fix in VX
author=Ravenite1author=prexusYou can't expect him to just stop making the game after all the progress he has made.
Anaryu's anti-lag won't help, either
The anti-lag scripts help on large maps by not rendering the events outside of the map focus, and not checking for them for things like 'on touch'.
I don't think RMVX is your best bet for making a Pac-Man game unless you are going to use scripting to do it. The event system is not designed for that sort of usage.
try to make a big map on a blank project (without scripts)
if you can make a 50x50 ~ 100x100 map and run around without lag, try to copy your events to the new project. If it's still without any lag
then make a copy of your project (backup) and delete EVERY script you have, try again to walk in the same map...
if you get no lag, then the problem lies in a script you're using, if you still have lag, the problem is on a parallel process event (be it common event or the events in the map)
this will take 5~10 mins and you'll know what is lagging your game
ps: if the problem is with your scripts, I suggest to take out one by one until the game stop lagging
I have no other scripts in the game. I can walk on an eventless, scriptless, 100x100 map lag-free. But I still don't completely understand what your saying here. Do I put all the maps in my game on one big map?
Major Lag Issue :(
author=Ravenite1
Your maps might be too big with too many events, try splitting your maps up. The way I used to do it when I had a big map was take the map, copy and paste it, then delete one half of one map, then the other half of the other map then link them both up and etc.
*EDIT*
Also you might be able to submit this into the forums under "Help & Requests". Just don't mention that it's about your game make it about the VX engine in general.
*2nd EDIT*
Haha never mind, I see you have already done that.
The map is 20x25. Not to big, but how would I "Split it Up?"

I still want to see brickroad do it. He sounded optimistic in one of his Talking Time Bros videos where he mentioned how we'd adopted a peer review system of sorts.
That's what I'm hoping for as well.
Edit: I just started watching Bricks LP of Talking Time. I don't like it so far. The game seems fine, but it's the LP itself that I don't like.
Why?
Because BrickRoad hasn't gotten angry yet.
Super RMN Bros. 2
author=ShortStarSo who plans on reviewing/LPing this thing?
Here's a timeline as far as I know from official people writing me. Regedit stopped updating the engine in October. He has a life & a wife. Then the guy doing the forum made a transfer and everything was lost. That was in early Jan / late December. Then it was restarted after a week from nothing.
Indefinite hiatius means that one day he will get the itch. It might take 6 months or a year, but he will be back. If not make a Metroid engine or something.
Incase anyone missed it >>

Really, is there no other way. I'm like half way done with the game. I have a game-page and everything. I just discovered the lag problem when I tried it on a laptop. I guess a good computer with a nice processor would be able to handle it. I don't know.
