I'm Ben_Random. I've been around since 2008 but I didn't really get active here since Super RMN Bros. 2. That, an unfinished game, and a couple of contests sums up what I've done with game making on this site. I find that my main purpose here is writing. I have a few tutorials out there, as well as some reviews on Mario fan games such as RMN Bros. or Mario V.S. the Moon Base.

Now with the internet the way it is these days, you can probably use just this information to stalk me.

Level pack updated. Updated Ben's levels, Link's levels, Desmo's Crystal Caves, Rachael's Ghost Circle, Ancient Noob's levels, and Ratty's levels (and added Underwater Grand Tour)


When do you think the game will be ready for release?

Edit the world file for your game. It's one of the settings where you can set authors and playable characters.

I have created a game for SMBX. It contains a world map and levels that are properly named. These are placed in a folder with the named my games name. This folder is in C:/SMBX/worlds folder. When I open up SMBX and hit "play game", and the game selection screen appears, there is a blank spot that I can select, along with the names of all the other games I have downloaded. If I select the blank spot, and hit enter, it opens my game with no bugs.

The question is, how do I get the name of my game to appear in that blank spot?

I think that it has a few too many colors ^^ If you use only one or two basic colors, it tends to look a lot less complicated and easier to read :D The makerscore is pretty dark for the comment's background, you may want to make it that burnt sienna color instead of the dark grey

Also, I think that the gradient shouldn't be so extreme. At the top where it's black, the teal text is fine, but at the end where it's white you have to highlight the text to be able to read it XD It may look better if you made the gradient a little bit more muted

Thanks for the offer WCouillard. I can say without question that rpgmaker.net would not survive on a shared hosting account for resource (CPU/RAM) usage if nothing else. Hosts who offer "unlimited" space and bandwidth do so knowing that it is technically not possible -- it's kind of like a pyramid scheme. Still, I appreciate the offer and willingness to step up.

So far the status report is this: we have raised enough funds for the initial server purchase and are in the process of doing so. The monthly operating costs look to be about $150. We currently have $63 in committed recurring memberships every month so we have about a $90 gap. Our ad revenue will be able to cover some of that but it doesn't get released in regular amounts.

You guys are pretty awesome, for the record.

'hali Approved' only means I think it's good enough to be in as it is. GRS gets the final say on everything; whether he agrees with me or not is for him to decide. He already overrode one, which I'm perfectly okay with.

I will change the tanooki suit to leaves. I totally agree about the boss fight. Will change that. I'm also thinking of adding a little more section of level inside the castle.
