I'm Ben_Random. I've been around since 2008 but I didn't really get active here since Super RMN Bros. 2. That, an unfinished game, and a couple of contests sums up what I've done with game making on this site. I find that my main purpose here is writing. I have a few tutorials out there, as well as some reviews on Mario fan games such as RMN Bros. or Mario V.S. the Moon Base.

Yay! But also argh, now they look like they (the blocks) should be one more pixel to the right so they line up with the edge of the image. Also need to clean up the area around the base of the green pipe.

Not bad, but you should still probably slide the ? blocks over so they all fit on the picture, and deal with that white line across the bottom. And I thought I'd also mention that, while the style clash is kinda bizarre, it also kinda matches how SMBX incorporates many styles of Mario stuff, so maybe you should throw in a few other things to reflect the variety.
Of course, that could also result in a terrible hodgepodge, so I dunno.
Fixed the white line, and moved the ? blocks to the left.

It is for looks, which is still of some sort of importance, wouldn't you say?
You're right. I think we can all agree that box art isn't necessary, but still a fun thing to do for your game.
