i've noticed that too. It's as if they don't have the 3-tile rule or they don't know that all empty space needs to be cluttered with useless junk.
haha Are you serious?

hah, not really. I prefer simplicity ;)

Also not so many custom systems...
The ones I played (translated or not) are full of custom systems.

Maybe we've seen different games then. From what I've seen, they usually go with the default battle system of whichever maker they use. I was mostly referring to the community craze for custom battle systems years ago. Although I've gotta say that I've been away from these RMing scenes for a while. So if there are more recent japanese games, I got no idea of them.

Games sequels, stay the same or go different? why and how?

i don't think you can create a rule out of this. It really varies from series to series. For example i can't wait for Dark Souls II which is third game in the series and seems to retain gameplay from previous games. But then there're games like Zelda, which i'd really hope to change things up big time.

if a series goes on too long stagnated, fans might be more shocked from a change. There're countless examples of this. More recent being DmC and Dead Space 3.

Milennin, yea that's what I was talking about. Also now you have just those ravines, but how about adding some small cliffs or something? Like just one-tile high. To give some height differences.

different terrain tiles help make it more lively. Check at that lockeZ's map of those cliffs.

i've noticed that too. It's as if they don't have the 3-tile rule or they don't know that all empty space needs to be cluttered with useless junk.

i've also noticed that japanese games seem to have missed the overlay/lighting craze we had some years back. Also not so many custom systems...

My game idea im working on , any advice

hm. I'm not too familiar with VX, so i can't help with your systems really. However that dual attack system should be very simple to make. Have a branch condition (or whatever it's called in VX) ask if you have character X and character Y in the party > if so, add skills to their skill library. If not, remove those dual skills.

also castle building can be achieved with very basic branch conditioning as well. Just have different maps represent different states of your castle growing up.

i don't think those other systems should be too complicated either as you get more familiar with the maker. My tip would be to start simple and add new systems as you go along.

also for your screenshots, please use screenshot topic to get proper feedback and constructive critisism (you're mapping skills need improving)

Japanese RPG Maker Games

Yea, this would be nice.

The only games I know translated from japanese RPG maker scene are Yume Nikki and Romancing Walker. Both ooze quality.

2d sprites vibrating on each other? What is this game?

What Videogames Are You Playing Right Now?

congrats, i imagine you've spent countless hours to achieve that?

i remember back in junior high few of my friend went real competitive with red alert 2. They literally spent all their waking hours on the game to stay in world top 20. They would go home during lunch breaks to start a game and build an army the opponent couldn't match while they themselves returned to school and left match going.
