Project Meta what
Although you probably already knew that.

What Is It, Though?
Project Meta mu is basically an interactive novel with one uninteresting boss battle, where you have to follow a story about Meta that makes very little sense. You are Ralph being sent to a dimension where you find various versions of RTP characters being held captive. You've got to find out why, and escape. Get ready to press space bar a lot to progress the story, and fight a boss that's long to fight but requires very little strategy.
Graphics
Project Meta has a mixture of bland and uninteresting maps, and some weird nicely surreal ones. The throne room with skeletons and RTP characters floating helplessly in mid-air was a nice one. Overall, most islands are floating in the air. Either that, or it is a bunch of jail cells that you must navigate your way through. The developer has normal mapping skill which is good but could use some improving.
Gameplay
Things weren't very well thought through in this game. There was a lot of walking around, talking to random people, but only one fight at the end which was an absolute slog-fest. You just spammed attack until he came down and that's about it. I can't really talk about gameplay that much because there really isn't much.
Story & Presentation
I did like the story, however. For the most part. It was very unique and the dialogue was well-written. But sometimes the ideas didn't feel so fleshed out. At the end of the day, the game calls it in with a pushover ending that explains nothing, and leaves the player just wondering why he played it in the first place. I don't think the developer knew what the ending meant either. Or at least that was my impression.
Conclusion
I would not recommend Project Meta mu-n to many people. Only people who enjoy existential writing and maybe can tolerate RTP done badly. But even then it isn't a particularly finished product either, whether it be by the timeframe or whatever caused the game to be less developed. There was only one battle and it was pretty bad too. Overall, could do better.
Thanks for reading.
